These are hooked to an air supply that forces wear bars to rise and squeeze the wheels of the rail cars to control the speed as the cars roll down the hill into the yard .

I was walking up 57th Street and was waiting for the walk signal at the intersection with 6th Avenue, when suddenly you could see several pilot motorists cutting off access to the street... So I am thinking this might be some important government man in a black bullet-proof limo... Then I can hear people screaming and running along... I still cannot see who is the important person, but I realize this is not a politician. Cheers were too sincere... So OK, I am prepared to meet a famous person... some celbrity maybe, because we are in NY after all. And there he is! Right behind a parked van emerges a long platform-truck with Bono sitting up there.... Bono from U2! It just blew me away. I am not a great U2 fan (though "Pride" is a personal favorite) and yet I was thunderstruck... Sitting there my brain totally blocked for several moments... Took me some time to figure out where I was and that I actually have a camera in my right pocket...

1947 ERF C.I.6 Chinese Six flatbed MBB 222 in the Livery of J.T. Evans taken when leaving the Mid Shropshire vintage Transport show.
Flatbed wagon with an old steam tractor out of the three wagons I've built this is the most testing so far getting those chains right was driving me round the bend!
No signage and it wasn't listed in the online inventory, so no model year. Classic Auto Mall, Morgantown, PA, January 16, 2021.
Today (15/06/2025) saw the 41st Ridgeway Run take place between Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire and the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre in Quainton, near Aylesbury. Organised by the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society (HCVS), the event featured a vintage mix of 42 lorries, vans and coaches which assembled at Henley railway station before a mass departure around 10:00.
The 4 coaches involved were:
BMS414, a 1948 Daimler CVD6 / Burlingham C33F;
PPH698, a 1951 Bedford SB / Duple Vega C33F;
PUJ781, a 1958 Leyland Tiger Cub / Burlingham Seagull V C41F;
CDK448C, a 1965 Leyland Leopard / Harrington Grenadier 36 C49F.
