Just in 1 day for a couple hours on a sunny Saturday morning, 27 volunteers committed about 79 hours of volunteer time to collect .42 tons of trash out of a 1.5 mile stretch of the Flat Branch Creek! Among the typical litter, we found things from karate belts to a vacuum. You never know what you find on cleanups!
To see the complete trash tally, news coverage and more, visit our event webpage here: riverrelief.org/event/flatbranch-trash-mob/

Yikes!... I could get flatter in this Chicago traffic if I don't watch it!... up ahead on the right is the AON Building... the one that is cut off. In front of that, in the shape of a pencil, is the Prudential (insurance) building. We are driving along Michigan Avenue, the street famous for shopping in Chicago
There is nothing very remarkable about this photo, but it does show one of the defining characteristics of Bangladesh: its flatness. Tagore loved Bengal's vast horizons, but I do like the odd hill or mountain myself :-)

This flat magnet is made from a high quality digital photo of one of my OOAK paper sculpture/mixed-media collage, The Horse Whisperer.
Surrounded by seahorses, she appears to be scanning the distance for something... maybe it’s a lost pirate (that resembles Orlando Bloom) looking to settle in a lovely beach home on the coast of Maine...
The magnet is 3x4 inches in size. The image is printed on a laserjet printer, on high quality semi glossy photo paper mounted on a magnetic sheet & covered with a plastic laminate. The plastic laminate protects the image allowing splatters & spills to be wiped off. But do not submerse it in water; it is not waterproof (like a real mermaid!)
The quality of the image is so intense that the magnet looks like a mini version of the original piece. The colors are very vibrant & bright: the deep azure blue ocean, her glistening golden hair & the gleaming emerald seaweed. The detail of the image is so great that it demonstrates the depth & dimension of the original piece making it appear to be 3d. You can practically feel the sand & pebbles!
I photographed this flat about a week ago... smashed out some colours in aperture, and am quite pleased with the effect!

Range of flat plate heat flux sensors - rigid and flexible from 5x5mm to 300x300mm as standard, up to 600x600mm as custom.
The SHF range of flat plate heat flux sensors are available in rigid form or flexible (F) and also with a thermocouple incorporated. Any permutation is available.
AN ULTRATHIN HEAT FLUX SENSOR -- The SHF range of thin foil flexible heat flux sensors consist of a thermoelectric panel laminated between flexible heterogeneous plastic layers. Since their introduction these thin etched foil balanced heat flux sensors have demonstrated significant advantage over conventional gradient layer heat flux sensors.
Flat plate heat flux components available at the online Sequoia shop www.sequoia.co.uk/shop/browse.php?d=77&c=159
