Just when we thought we were done hiking today, we flipped this little gem. At first it appeared to me as another Rough Earth Snake but once you take a look at the belly and see the bright red, you definitely know! This one was shedding, judging by the eyes and usually the heads are a bit darker.

parkrun is a free to enter weekly 5K run. It's you against the clock on a measured 5K couse. Parkruns take place on Saturday mornings all over the UK. Once registered you receive a barcode which gives you 'turn up on the day' entry to any parkrun.
Comprehensive results are given on the website and your pb for each course is logged.
Apparently, there was an arrow underneath the sign reading "Foot Wash" pointing to a place you can wash off accumulated salt debris from your feet after walking around the salt flats. As you can see behind the sign, this time of year that's not a problem.
Another one from our weekend trip to Exmouth, Devon - a new development of flats (apartments if you're west of the Atlantic) right by the beach.

I had the opportunity to work with Keith and Jim aka the Flat Car Riders. A "rockabilly", southern rock/country duo. Flat Car Riders is from an old CCR song, so a railroad theme seemed fitting for their debut CD cover.
A misty morn over Melbourne Park and the flats which have in recent years been rebuilt. The whole complex around the flats is now a lot more pleasing on the eye.
