Went for an awesome ride today after dropping off the kids at school and had a 2hr+ window. On the last downhill section I suddenly noticed that something wasn't right with the tire. Sure enough I had a flat. Had to hike out and carry the bike out the last 2km. Wouldn't have made it to pick up Maya so I called a friend if she could grab Maya and I raced to go get Lucy from her school.
My son called from the parking lot of the Ramada. While driving to the bank, he'd heard a loud noise, and suddenly the car was difficult to steer. He found the right front tire flat.
"I really demolished it, Dad," he mumbled.
I got to the hotel and tried to reassure Evan. It was a brand-new tire. I suspect it was defective.
Just glad Evan is all right.
A hangglider pilot friend John took me up for a ride. Chris, also a plane pilot, decided to flyby us when he saw my camera. He made many beautiful passes around me. We just fly freely like birds...
When the tire blew out while going 60 on the freeway I thought for sure someone would go into me before I could move to the shoulder so I immediately looked in the rear view mirror to see who was behind me. Then I put the right turn signal on and hit the hazard lights. Luckily there was a very observant trucker behind me who helped me get to the shoulder. First he slowed way down because I was suddenly moving very slowly. He signaled so he could move to the right and when it was clear he slowly moved over a lane so I could move over in front of him. He did this three times so I could get to the shoulder! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I LOVE truckers!!!

This is where I got a flat tire on my motorcycle on the QEW in Ontario Canada between Buffalo, NY and Toronto.
For Eric's birthday this year, we decided to stay in a hotel overnight in Wendover. On our way then, we decided to stop off at the Bonneville Salt Flats where we played around for a bit before heading to our hotel.

Any photographer in Singapore will probably have taken one of these shots. HDBs are housing sold by the government to the people, and I think about 80% of the population live in these type of flats. They are great for symmetry and repetition shots. :-)
We built some flats for our entrance facade. I think it looks like a big version of Mr. Rogers' trolley at this point.
An unusual house, set back behind wide verges in a pleasant part of suburban Norwich and photographed on Sunday 25th December 2011 (Quarter Day). It's an oddity isn't it? Its flat-roofed, blocky appearance hint of Modernist aspirations, yet there is a porch with a pointed arch. What was the method of construction I wonder. The herringbone pattern between the floors (should one call it "nogging") suggests a decorative skin (uh-oh, applied decoration ...poison to the strict Modernist) and the windows are within what appears to be a shallow recess. Would it have been built on a steel frame, or is it of solid concrete ...the area around the windows representing the "true" wall, with the brickwork merely an integument, for appearance only?
well what a day a had yesterday. i was riding my motorbike when suddenly my rear tyre exploded. luckily i wasn't driving fast. i slowly turned to the side of the road making sure the flat tyre stays in the rim. i checked the damage and saw a 4 inch gash on the tire. no way i was getting out from this mess easy, a riders nightmare. i searched for the culprit that caused this mess and i found the rusted flat iron bar. i thought to myself how unlucky that out of the countless of vehicles that passed through today it had to be me and considering that i only have two wheels. i called the bike towing service and the guy who answered my call said he will get back to me as soon as a tow vehicle is available. i waited and waited, under the midday sun, then an hour had passed by, i was exasperated and becoming desperate when this guy on a small motorbike stopped and offered assistance. after sharing with him my story he said that there's a vulcanizing shop about 70 meters away. there were bushes so you could hardly see the shop. so to make the story short, the shop was able to fix my tyre just good enough for me to ride the bike to a motorbike shop and buy a new set of tyres.. a good ending to a miserable day he he he
The first time I came across "les pêches plates" (flat peaches) was in France but I've since come across them here in the UK, now and then.
They are also known as doughnut (or donut peaches, saturn peaches and even UFO peaches...
I bought these at the local newsagent/ grocer at the top of my road yesterday...
