Another experiment with the big ball and socket brick elements in an effort to keep the scale and piece count down. "FLCL" meets "Cain robot" head, gorilla proportion legs, frying pan thumbs.
Having recently had a misunderstanding with a family member, texting back and forth, I now officially consider texting as 'flat words'. It's almost impossible to 'know' what someone is 'thinking' from a simple text statement. People have become nonverbal, devoid of feelings, quick to jump to wrong conclusions....just 'flat words'.
This is Moses Cone and his wife Bertha's home in Blowing Rock, NC. Moses Cone was an entrepreneur, philanthropist and conservationist who manufactured textiles at his facility in Greensboro.
Flat Top Manor was built at the turn of the century in the Victorian Neo-Classical Style. Building materials including the gaslights, telephone and central heating system had to be hauled 20 miles from Lenoir, NC by horse drawn wagons. The house cost $25,000 to build at a time when $200 was the median for a habitable structure. The country estate comprises 23 rooms and 13,000 square feet with leaded glasses windows and dormers and a single lane bowling alley.
Moses Cone did not get to enjoy his country retreat very long. In 1908 he died, 7 years after the home was completed. His wife outlived him by 39 years and upon her death in 1947 the estate was bequeathed to the Moses Cone Hospital who then later turned it over to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is now a national heritage site and the most visited along the expanse of scenic roadway.
There are 25 miles of carriage roads throughout the grounds, plus hiking trails, 2 man-made lakes and apple orchards. It sits at milepost 294 along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
This car competed in the AMOC 50s Sports Cars race at the Aston Martin Owners Club's meeting at Oulton Park in May 2017. It's Stephen Bond's 1955 1,991cc Lister Bristol 'Flat Iron', chassis BHL9, formerly John Horridge's Ecurie Bullfrog car, and is pictured during the race at Druids Corner. The car began life with a Riley engine and was driven by John Horridge and Geoffrey Beeson in the 1955 Bol D'Or 24-hours Grand Prix de Paris but failed to finish. It was given a 1,991cc Bristol engine the following year and raced at national and international level before crashing heavily at Snetterton in July 1957. Subsequently the car was rebuilt by the Works with new 'flatiron' bodywork.
My co-worker helping me with my tire. He is the one that saw it was flat. This is after he took it off and took me over to the tire store at lunchtime to get it fixed. I am thankful it happened here at work, with people to help me, I know the guys at the tire store because they come in to the gas station I work at, and the tire store is a block away.
Interpretation of the flat iron building, NYC, if the Japanese wood block print artist, Hokusai, had ever been able to see it.
Another re-edit of another bike! this has ended up becoming a bit of a mini set on abandoned bikes!.. Last one for a little while though!
They don't make saddles as comfy as that anymore!!!! ;-)

So, it rained, it snowed, and then the sun came out... then owner stopped for a minute and said this ranch has been there since 1879...
"Langi Flats, a pair of apartment buildings designed by renowned architect Walter Burley Griffin, and built in 1925 & 1926, are significant at the state level for architectural and aesthetic reasons.
Walter Burley Griffin, in association with his wife Marion Mahoney, was the most remarkable and individualistic architect in Australia during his stay between 1913 and 1935. The Langi Flats are unusual in his oeuvre for displaying more of the style features of his earlier American projects, after leaving the office of Frank Lloyd Wright. Important features include the low horizontal eaves, the complex geometric decoration on the capitals of the front pylons, the decortive iron panels window spandrels and the matching gates on the north block.
The use of native trees (in this case lemon scented gums) in the front lawn displays Griffin's interest in Australian flora for suburban gardens. It is believed that Edna Walling later designed the north garden at the rear of the flats.
Aesthetically, the flats are attractive as a large, yet sensitively scaled building, with a horizontal, ground hugging emphasis, set behind sweeping lawns studded with a row of large native trees."

Hambug Hafencity , a very nice and completely refurbished district of Hamburgs port area with probably the most expensive flats , apartments and office buildings in Hamburg. The port annivisary is every year a big event and attracts thousants of visitors and it is of course a good oportunity to shoot some pictures , you normally can not capture.

The extensive freshwater marsh between Jackson Lake Dam and Colter Bay can be viewed from the back deck of Jackson Lake Lodge and the Willow Flats Overlook, 1/4 mile south of the lodge. Shrubby willows provide browse for moose. In evening and early morning elk graze on grasses growing in large patches among willow stands. Beavers have created ponds by damming streams through-out Willow Flats; beaver ponds also harbor muskrats and waterfowl.
While watching the sunset we saw countless elk, two coyotes, and two moose.
