PEAK McKINLEY: Wonderful old Flashlight with a patina that doesn't come in a bottle. 7LED Ultra - Snow.

Nikon D90, Tokina 100mm. Macro. 4/5" @ f/22. WB Auto, SB-400 flash.

I captured this shot by hanging a flashlight from the ceiling with a string, setting my camera on a tripod looking up. I set the camera to BULB, turned off the lights, started the flashlight swinging, and hit the shutter.

Took this during a power outage in our neighborhood.

an outage caused by a storm.

After driving halfway across Canada twice in a couple of days my back was killing me so I went out for midnight stroll across the prairie.

Everything is going on in this one.

Strobist info: led flashlight camera right, hot shoe flash fired backwards.

Brand-new and it's already dusty :)

I love macro shots of light sources, since it's really easy to get good detail.

L3 Illumination L10 AAA cell mini flashlight (or torch). Aluminum body, rugged construction, four light modes, extremely bright.

The rotating barrel style on-off switch precludes this little light from being a pocket-carry type item. In the past I have had rotating barrel flashlights, and they always manage to turn on and drain the battery when carried in a pocket or when attached to a key ring.

I took this picture in a rather odd way. I wated for something like total darkness. I shook it, it's the kind of flashlight you shake to get electricity going, and then turned off the main light, so that i was in darkness, then turned on the flashlight and photographed it in the dark. The flash went off and that was the only other light. It looks as if it was taken in broad daylight, but less shiny. Anyway this flashlight I got for $1.00 at a yard sale. New they cost $30.

When I got it, it didn't work, but since it's see t hrough I figured I could figure out how to fix it. Basically the switch connection was off, so I disassembled the flashlight, and fixed that, it was a placement problem. I found if you shake this flashlight long and hard enough, you will get brighter light out of it, BUT that can throw off the switch mechanism, the good thing is that's a very easy repair. If I can fix that, ANYONE can!
