Preparing the diffuser on the flash before a long documentation session in the "Minerva room" of the Architecture Faculty in Florence, Supivas as the occasional versatile subject.

Ever since I got my flash I have enjoyed setting it off full power into the eyes of my unsuspecting friends. I though flashing myself might make for a fun self-portrait. It took around 60 shots before I got my facial expression and body position right. By the end I could barely see, but at least I got a good picture out of it!
Ok this is the galvanized flashing that was protecting the back of the house. It is rusted out big time
Macro Monday - theme: DIY
I made brackets like these for each of my flash units. When a flash is on an umbrella adapter with an umbrella, with this bracket it's flat and very close to the stem of the umbrella, aimed along the center axis (instead of 5"-8" offset in typical position on an umbrella adapter). Also, the weight of the flash unit counter-balances the umbrella better.

Fritzing breadboard view of flash trigger hackery. Substantially upgraded from last round, the Arduino now powers the laser and sensor, opens the shutter, and fires the flash about 165 milliseconds after the beam is diminished by 0.5% relative the previous ten readings.
I took part in the Manchester Weekender 2012 presents All in a Flash - a one day photography exhibition on the 14th october 2012.
Under the guidance of Len Grant, we tried to capture the characters of the Manchester Northern Quarter.
My theme was people at work within the Northern Quarter.
After taking photographs for a couple of hours, we each had a single shot printed out and took part in an exhibition flashmob - best described as a guerilla gallery.
Unfortunately only one shot was printed, so this gallery is an opportunity to say thank you to some of the other people that were kind enough to let me take their photograph.

"Friends uke nited" flash mob in Gloucester city centre this afternoon. They were introduced by Gloucester's Town Crier (and world's loudest town crier!) Alan Myatt and started off by playing 'Jingle Bells', getting everyone in the Christmas spirit.

This movie was created using the Macrolab app from sphere. the Macrolab app allows you to create complicated, technical command patterns that control the ball, with the ease of a touch screen interface and a simplified app! Three macros make up this video the second being the longer complicated one, the last being just a simple roll and turn.
Sphero is a bluetooth operated robotic ball created by Obotix a company from Boulder, Colorado. There are many apps on iTunes or for the android marketplace, that allow you to interact with the robotic ball in many different ways. Just pair with your smart phone open one of the multiple sphero apps and your set for about a solid hour of fun on one charge, so get your roll on!
I had my flash accessories out because I was working on a lesson from Exposure class. With the Gary Fong Puffer on, I took some snaps in the dark bathroom. I thougth this one turned out looking kind of nifty.
Blue marlin cruise through the open ocean after covering hundreds of miles in their migration patterns. During their travels, they pass through waters inundated with plastic pollution. Clean water is vital to keeping marlin healthy.
