Shooting OUTSIDE with flash.

This is so different from everything we've ever done before. She looks SO grown up! You'd never guess her age if you'd only see this.

It was so much time.. I think I'm taking photos of her for about a year now and she's getting better all the time. And she's such a nice girl!

Waking up at 6o'clock this morning again. I don't know what's wrong with me lately.

Happy Sunday!

I'll be shooting today again :D

Oh and for everyone who wondered: She's 15.

VENEZIA " Flash " 2012

A trip with my family in beautiful Venice, the first time my son Jonathan in Venice!

No photos classic Piazza San Marco ... I keep my old photos are so beautiful, I had a few years younger! I photographed in the way of thinking about Marvin ... the signs of aging and advancing some interesting corner of the streets!

Smile?

G?

All of the above?

I don't usually do the frilly look, but this cute little ensemble caught my eye and I just had to have it! Do you think my miniskirt is too short?

Another ensemble that arrived in the recent binge buy is this shiny wet look lycra spandex top & ruffled miniskirt (with matching thong) that came from milanoo[dot]com I think the miniskirt has lots of possibilities playing mix'n match with some of my other shiny leotards! For this ensemble I've matched it up with my Hanes Alive pantyhose and my silver platform stocking boots with the 6" heels from electriqueboutique.com.

Btw.: Not the nicest shot, just to show the physics ...

How can you make your flash brighter?

Easy: Make your camera more sensitive to flashlight without changing your ambient exposure. That means: Set your shutter speed to a value near syncspeed and compensate this regarding ambient light via your ISO setting. .

Making-of

Flash Gordon by Bally. Needs a lot of cleaning, a good playfield waxing, a lot of lamp socket cleaning, new bulbs, spinner tweaking, and probably some flipper work, too.

Weird scenes inside a pub. July 2012 Dublin.

In this series I've pushed the Sony a7R III to (and closely over) it's dynamic range limits during a sunset at the lake.

Developed with Capture One 21 (shadows +100 / highlights -100 / exposure has been lifted in most pictures as well).

Some pictures might therefore not be as sharp and detailed as if exposed normally, so please do not blame the camera or the lens. Both have done a good job under these extreme lighting conditions and the shadow recovery worked very good in most situations.

Goal was to get an authentic atmosphere without any flashlight, not to get the sharpest most detailed results. I'm not a fan of flash lights and unnatural light sources.

Anyway, you wouldn't even take note if I wouldn't have unlocked high resolution for my Flickr photos to show you my pictures at 100% :)

A little bit of vibrance and saturation, a bump of contrast, and a crop to get rid of the reflector in the shot. I'm pretty happy with the result.

A number of images in my photo archive were taken using this cheap flash diffuser and the camera's pop-up flash. The plastic dish is from a Marie Callender "Fresh Flavor Steamer" frozen dinner. Here it's rigged up as a kind of soft-box or shoot-through flash diffuser for using with the pop up flash on the camera. Behind the dish is a Nikon D40. The arms of the support bracket are screwed to the tripod mount of the camera with a knob having a 1/4-20 thread. Reading lights are used to support clips for holding the dish. I don't need or use the lights... just the "goose-neck" material and the light's mounting clips. The primary lens is a Nikon 70-210mm zoom AF lens, with the focus locked at infinity with the green rubber band. The lens with the silver barrel peeking out of the lens shade is the "common objective" from a junk American Optical "Cycloptic" stereo microscope (NOT reversed). Focusing is done manually, simply by moving the rig forward and backward and shooting as the subject passes through the zone of maximum sharpness.

NOTE: This early version of my macro set-up has been replaced with an updated rig using a cut-down, lens-mounted diffuser, and a bracket using threaded rods to support reflector cards. The diffuser and reflector cards can be used separately, or together depending upon your lighting requirements.

What a relief that there's a television in the rest room at the Time Warner Center shopping mall. How else would I have known about this stunningly relevant and pertinent news item.

Now, if only CNN can help us find that blasted unicorn!

This week I got my new RF-602 triggers, which I have been really really impressed with. Massive step up from the ones I had before. I also ordered some nice new umbrella brackets to hold my flashes uber securely.

A few people asked about it all so I thought I'd chuck a pic up.

Go large for detai.

@way hat geklappt... Gewitter im August

Oi, meus amores! Tudo bem?

Beijo!

Crappy kind of flash, but had to be done for first external flash assignment.

My new (used) SB800 from the LensProToGo sale in November, shot with a lens I rented this week using my prize from last year's LPTG 52 week project! Had to figure out how to set up the commander mode to do this shot--it is really different from my SB600.
