I spent 2 days at the North Rim of Grand Canyon and it rained most of the time. I chased the lightning here for 3 hours and took over 1000 boltless photos under an umbrella during my endeavor. Trying to capture lightning without a trigger trap is a huge waste of time, but when your successful just once it makes it all the more rewarding. I tried several different setups using continuous shutter mode with long exposures and then switched to shorter exposures on slow shooting continuous mode and thought that I had failed. When I later reviewed my photos back at the campground I found that I had captured one photo with a strike included. I guess it was luck or just persistence that rewarded me. I also used a second camera to capture video of the storm and the awesome thunderstorm that accompanied the storm. I'm not sure if I will post any of the video but it was nice to have a personal record of the awesomeness of the storms the frequent the Grand Canyon.

Gordon’s alive?!
Also tried the sci-fi movie ‘Sphere’ but came back to this as I can remember little from the other movie. Honestly, I could’ve sworn that the dominant colour of the film poster, costume etc was yellow hence the background of this shot. Looks like it was red.

A Thorny Devil (Moloch horridus) moves across a desert sand-plain as the sun rises on what will be an oppressively hot day on the Barkly Tableland in the outback of Australia.
Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, Laowa 15/4 1:1 Macro Lens and a little diffused flash.
The little kinglet, quick and bright,
A golden flash, then out of sight.
Hidden within the leafy green,
The smallest crown that I have seen.
It took some patience to get this photo! Watching this hyperactive golden-crowned kinglet bouncing through the bushes was a real challenge. But the reward was this shot, capturing a rare moment where its fiery orange and yellow crown was visible, perfectly framed by the warm colors of the autumn foliage. It's a reminder that good things come to those who wait—especially when photographing these tiny, fast-moving birds.

An old shot from 2018 as I was experimenting with water drop photography. Used a flash to freeze the action.
The Havannah Flashes are fishing ponds in the Sankey Valley Park, between St Helens and Newton-le-Willows in Merseyside.
A lot of people out the night before St. Patrick's day in Dublin, but mostly tourists. The girl jumped out into the frame of the camera as I took the shot. The image came out better than I thought.

While on holiday, been playing with remote flash. Put the flash under the table ( which has some hole decoration on it), put 2 glass model and shoot. I kind of like the effect.

Here is a photo of that elusive optical phenomenon known as the green flash. It usually occurs around sunset and can be enhanced when a mirage stretches the sun to produce discs above the true sun. The light is refracted through the atmosphere and green is the last visible colour of the spectrum before the light disappears. It is usually a short-lived phenomenon, hence the term flash. I apologise to all those who view my photos that are afflicted by red/green colour-blindness as I understand the green upper stripe looks just the same as the orange-yellow lower stripes. The gene for red/green colour-blindness is recessive, and is carried on the X sex chromosome. In mammals, males have just a single X chromosome, and an empty Y chromosome, whereas females have a pair of X chromosomes. If males carry a copy of this gene it will manifest itself and the carrier will be red/green colour-blind. But if females carry a copy, its effects will be masked by a normal (dominant) gene on the other X chromosome, and their vision will be normal. Females would need a copy of the colour-blindness gene on both X chromosomes to be afflicted by colour-blindness. This is why colour-blindness is so much more frequent in males.
