European Robin [Erithacus rubecula]
This wee Robin has white flashes on each wing. I think this is quite rare as I’ve never seen one like it (even having trawled the University of Google). She is usually first to appear when I’m filling up the winter feed - the peanut butter mixture - and sings as she’s sitting waiting for the all clear... A lovely little soul.
Here, she’s sitting waiting in the rain. It’s a really dull and wet day! I hope she is going to have little baby robins with this amazing white flash.

There were just a few fireflies / lightning bugs at Fishing Creek last night. Very humid and misty and spooky after dark when I can't see anything but the lights of the fireflies.
This is a composite of exposures taken without moving the camera. The scene was exposed for 30 sec, F/8, ISO 640 and the fireflies were exposed about 150 times at F/2.8, 800 to 1600 ISO, 1 sec to 4 sec as it got darker. Most of the firefly frames were discarded because there were no flashes on them.

The Butterfly Place, in Westford, Massachusetts, hosts both zebra longwing butterflies and zebra finches. The finches eat the longwings' eggs, though. This one is watching a friend munch away on eggs that were laid on a nearby leaf.

Another shot from last session with Alessandra, this time featuring an outlandish look with the aid of coloured lighting.
Strobist info: primary blue gelled sb700 shot through rapid box octa xl as fill. Sangria coloured rim light on a stripbox, and a tiny Apollo pushed in close with a cerulean blue gelled flash for key.
Shot with a Nikon D700 and the Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8 lens.

Flash off camera fired using ebay wizzards. Flash is placed to the left, with a dish in the sink with the tap dripping.
The morning of the day it was cloudy.
However, if I waited for a while, the flash appeared from under the clouds.

Mythology says that roses grew thorns when Cupid accidentally shot an arrow into a rose garden.
I finally found a way to get the adapter to work, so I took advantage of it. Fyi, I never ever use flash. So this was a kind-of-sort-of first.
P.S. I have an idea for X, considering I'm re-doing it. I will try to get the picture done tomororow. :D
