Took with the flash. I was trying a number of settings with the D50. Finally, it worked out to force higher ISO, make the shutter speed 1/2 second, and use the flash. The balance turned out quite nice.

The sun sets with a green flash Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Point Fermin Park in San Pedro, Los Angeles.
This isn't the best green flash I've ever seen. Those, of course, happened when I was driving or out doing something other than photography. The green flash is often described as a rare phenomena, but having lived near the ocean for a few years now, I can say that the very strong ones are rare, but modest ones such as this are something I see several times a year. Mostly in the winter and spring on very clear days.

Green "Vista" desktop on the PC so I de-saturated green and a little cyan to get this result !
