The good news: Three years after Webshots was sold, they’ve finally relaunched the ProShots section of the site.
The bad news: Sadly, they made an amateur Flash mistake. Fail. Notice the Flash plugin failure notice, next to my plugins list showing I have Flash 10.0.42 installed.
To add insult to injury, the (ugly, as always) advertisement pictured on the page is Flash, and loaded it just fine.
*rolls eyes*
I made designs for the redesign of ProShots over ≤i≥four years ago (not this pictured design, which I make absolutely no claim to), and CNET Networks sadly never had enough resources to complete it (also fail). Webshots was sold by CNET Networks to American Greetings Interactive three years ago, and I left at that point.
Circuit that I used to measure the flash duration of the microsecond flash. Saturation of the photodiode must be avoided, it helps to bounce the flash off of a closeby white wall.
Don't you just love my handwriting?
A BPX61 photodiode is used which does have the peak sensitivity well into the IR characteristic of silicon detectors. The 50ohm terminator is not required if the scope has a 50-ohm input impedance setting (mine does not). Also important to make sure that your choice of resistor is still primarily resistive at frequency so no wire wound resistors!
Function Area 2 of Basic Still Photography at Defense Information School at Fort Meade, MD. Emphasizing on flash technique, this area of the course taught the basics using a SB-28DX Flash and included bounce, indirect, off camera, and synchro-sun photography.
This was based on a shot I had in my head. I wanted the flower silhouetted by a full moon. (Sort of like in the movie E.T.) I waited literally weeks for the moon to be full and in just the right position and for one of our mini sunflowers to be in bloom.... lots of things over which I had no control. Finally, everything came together just right. Except for one thing. It was cloudy. I figured I'd go out and take some test shots anyway.
Something magical happened. The clouds were very fast-moving and my long exposure times yielded these super cool impressionistic backgrounds. This was so much better than my original vision!
To borrow a phrase from a friend who grew up in Boston, "frikkin wicked"!
Here is a sample photo taken with my new DIY ring flash. The only adjustments was to reduce the levels for background.
Since when did Flash animations within IE require you to click or press SPACEBAR / ENTER to activate the control!?!?!
Day 254
Yeah, I got this new camera.
Dunno if I'll ever use it.
I also got a action-something-or-other.
It has four lenses, you know, and take them all in order so there's like four frames on a frame.
It's got a test roll of black and white in it now.
Happy.

500mm Flash Bracket Extension tubes.
I am making 3 x 500mm and 2 x 250mm.
They can all be screwed together in any order to get a variety of flash heights and the YN BnS flash heads fitted to the end...

A really small remote controlled helicopter I have, this one took dozens of shots to get right. It’s actually flying, no Photoshop tricks. One 550EX from above with a Lumiquest snoot, plus a Canon 420EX from the right with a Lumiquest softbox.
Two great street musicians performing old Queen songs using accordion and tenor voice, only. They did Bohemian Rapsody at that moment. Marvellous idea.

A weary but determined Dylan Rielly of Williamstown takes a short breather to examine his handi-work, a ditch to divert water from undermining the porch of a friend's home on Harrington Ave. in Barre. Rielly carved the channel out of the rubble strewn lawn after he realized his work-place, the Vtrans Garage across from the Wayside on the Barre-Montpelier Road, was under water and inaccessible. After hearing of the damage to the friends home, Rielly arrived on scene and crafted a solution diverting the water thretening the home's porch.
