It was very cool to see flamingos in the wild. They are awesome birds! I had a little too much lens with me when I found this one... so I had to settle with a portrait shot. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

I was lucky enough to see and photograph Flamingos at the San Diego Zoo a few years ago.

Did wonder exactly where flamingos came from that this sort of camouflage was a good idea :-)

They are quite beautiful birds. I like the way they are able to stand on one leg asleep for long periods, usually with their head tucked under thier plumage like this. This bird was at Drusillas Zoo in Sussex - if you have children it is a great place to visit.

Seen in Roger Williams Park Zoo, Providemce, Rhode Island, USA.
