Yes, it is a mirror of the flamingo on the left. But I couldnt resist.

The greater flamingo, rosy flamingo or European flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) is the most widespread species of the flamingo family. It is found in parts of Africa, southern Asia (coastal regions of Pakistan and India), and southern Europe. Some populations are short distance migrants, and sightings north of the breeding range are relatively frequent.

The Greater flamingo has a total length of 120-150 cm; the body is only about 2/5 of the total length. The wingspan is 140-165 cm.

The plumage of the head, neck, body and tail is white with pink tinge. The Wing-coverts are bright crimson-orange and flight feathers are black. This flight feathers are usually partly hidden when the wings are at rest. The bill is curced downwards and pink with a black tip.

The very long legs are grey-pink with darker joints and feet. The sexes look alike, but males may be slightly larger than females.

The plumage of juveniles is streaky brown. They have a grey bill with a black tip and gray to brown legs.

The bird resides in mudflats and shallow coastal lagoons with salt water. Using its feet, the bird stirs up the mud, then sucks water through its bill and filters out small shrimp, seeds, blue-green algae, microscopic organisms and mollusks.

The average lifespan in captivity is over 60 years.

This picture was taken in Zoo Parc Overloon, zoo in Overloon, the Netherlands.

Flamingo

I am observing you 👀

This one was ready for his afternoon nap!!

Made for a nice shot I hope!

What can I say?...a somewhat more elegant offering than my previous Flamingo shot. These creatures elicit many varied reactions, from comical, to hilarious, to stunning beauty. In researching them, the data is confusing, with no one being able to nail down their beginnings, and confusion from which family of birds they hail. Some say they are related to grebes, some to ibis. They are endangered in certain parts of the world for unknown reasons. There is no reliable explanation for why they stand on one foot.

So, I offer you this moment in a Flamingo life.......beauty.
