Flag Day is already a well-known and beloved competition among students from five high schools in Bucharest, organized by the Public Diplomacy Section. Participating for the first time, this year’s high schools (Mihai Eminescu, Nicolae Iorga, C.A. Rosetti, Mihail Sadoveanu and Dimitrie Paciurea) developed depictions of all 50 U.S. States and the District of Columbia.

Held in the Embassy’s courtyard for the first time, the 150 students exhibited the displays they created to illustrate representative elements for each of the states, all related to the history, culture and language of the Native Americans. The winners received American books and stationary and had a fun pizza picnic on the lawn.

På markedet kunne man blandt andet købe flag. De er så viseligt indrettet, at de er kosovariske på den ene side og albanske på den anden...

At the market you could buy flags, among other things. They are so cunningly constructed as to display the Kosovar flag on one side and the Albanian on the other...

In the same vain as the train. I wanted the colors to be super vibrant.

The rainbow flag flying above the Castro district. You can't really tell from the photo, but it's an enormous flag, almost but not quite as big as the American flag that flies on Ithaca's south hill near Rogan's Corner.

i have no idea what or why... but it's one of my fave pics.. the grey sky and shapes as well as the obvious lack of fun in this activity makes it seem really melancholy to me.

Semaphore was developed in the late eighteenth century to pass messages over distances, especially from coastal sighting points to large cities to notify when ships where sighted. The system was refined using flags for maritime use in the early nineteenth century.

Famously the Beatles album Help (1965), was to have the four Beatles spell out the title with their arms. it was deemed aesthetically unpleasing, and the band's arms were instead positioned in a meaningless but aesthetically pleasing arrangement for the final version of the album art.

This is the position for spelling HELP.
