I love the colours of the flags against the huge storm that was only 10 minutes away. I wish I could of stayed for the light show that followed - too dangerous.

Beginning with "Juliett on Fire Keep Clear" ....

Interestingly, "Papa About to Sail" (a blue flag with a white centered square) appears three times.

This appealed to my sense of Welsh nationalism! Although with very little wind that day, I had to wait around for the flag to blow out at all!

Not a bird. I just found this flag at the cemetery to be an interesting way to photograph the sunset one evening.

I've been in poor health lately, with my first ever case of Shingles, followed by COVID just days later. My god I miss feeling normal.

To celebrate Flag Day on June 13, for the 8th straight year the U.S. Embassy's Public Diplomacy Section organized a competition with high school students to develop depictions of all 50 U.S. States and the District of Columbia. Nearly 300 enthusiastic high school students took part in the competition which took place at the Ambassador’s residence where they exhibited the displays they created to illustrate various representative elements of each of the states, in order to convey the message for this year’s theme: “America’s Strength: The Diversity of Its People”. First time participating, this year's high schools were: Gheorghe Lazar (Bucharest), Mihai Viteazul (Bucharest), Nicolae Balcescu (Oltenita), Decebal (Bucharest) and Ion Neculce (Bucharest). The winners received American books, music and movies (Lucian Crusoveanu / Public Diplomacy Office)

For centuries, Tibetan Buddhists have tied these flags at places of spiritual importance for the wind to carry the divine vibrations across the countryside. Prayer flags are said to bring happiness, long life and prosperity.

Flag Day is already a well-known and beloved competition among students from five high schools in Bucharest, organized by the Public Diplomacy Section. Participating for the first time, this year’s high schools (Mihai Eminescu, Nicolae Iorga, C.A. Rosetti, Mihail Sadoveanu and Dimitrie Paciurea) developed depictions of all 50 U.S. States and the District of Columbia.

Held in the Embassy’s courtyard for the first time, the 150 students exhibited the displays they created to illustrate representative elements for each of the states, all related to the history, culture and language of the Native Americans. The winners received American books and stationary and had a fun pizza picnic on the lawn.

I made these flags for our nephew's 2nd birthday. This is his big sis, refusing to allow Great Grandma to take her picture, but all too happy to let Auntie Lisa do so.
