5 Mediekjempe tilbake til Norge?
Shots from my first trip to Japan in April, 2001. Flags at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu shrine in Kamakura.
This Flag flew across the street from where we watched the Lost Dutchman Days Parade in Apache Junction, Arizona. The skies were drab gray so offered no definition or color.
I saw a photograph of Cub Scouts burning an American flag at a fire station a short while back. They burn the flag, out of respect, when they want to "decommission" it. Though I remembered hearing that flags are burned rather than allowed to touch the ground, the only time I had seen a burning flag was at a protest. It got me thinking about the different intentions around burning a flag and that the mere act of burning a flag is not in and of itself an act of protest.
Many veterans hate it when the flag is burned in protest because they feel that it symbolically destroys everything that they fought for, freedoms they fought to keep for their children and freedoms their fathers fought to keep for them. Others feel that being allowed to burn the flag exemplifies their right to freedom of expression, while others burn flags because they feel the US has turned its back on the freedoms the forefathers envisioned. Whatever the case may be, there are multiple facets to a seemingly singular act.
I wanted to try to capture that complexity in an image. Posterity and history, war and freedom, respect and disdain are important themes when we talk about flag burning. With those themes in mind, I wanted to create an image that could be interpreted in numerous ways. Did I succeed in that? How do you interpret the image? As this is my first composite image, ever, is the image itself technically satisfactory?

June 2013
June 14-Flag Day! Let's see some flags! (Does not have to be a National flag, can be any flag!)
I always fly my Star Spangle Banner but on special occasions, I unfold and allow a couple of others to shine in the light of day. One that I fly quite a bit is my POW-MIA in flag. Though I have never served this country in the Military, my family has, I am from a very proud and loyal military family and I am a proud American. My oldest brother served in the Marines in Vietnam and he lost several friends there. One was MIA. It hurts to now that we have men and women still missing and being held prisoner. That upsets me and saddens me and really makes me mad. That is why I fly this flag, till every one is returned home. That is the flag flying on my balcony today.
"Blue Flag" 2019
"Blue-Flag” 2019 is a biannual international aerial training exercise hosted by the IAF. Air forces from the United States, Italy, Greece and Germany simulated extreme combat scenarios in realistic settings with the IAF.
The current exercise was the first exercise in which the "Adir" (F-35I) aircraft participated.

These flags fly proudly at one of KY's rest stops. A famous man once said " It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible." That man was George Washington.

Yes, it WAS windy! At the top of the tower the sustained winds were probably in the 30-40 mph range while gusts were topping 50 mph. It was one heck of a view and well worth the ffort, but I had to go inside the tower to change lenses, and I took off my hat and attached it to my bag strap to keep it from returning to Ohio before me.
During the Summer of 1986, I took my son to Six Flags Great Adventure Amusement Park, which is located in the Pine Barrens of Jackson Township, Ocean County, New Jersey. My son is shown in the front seat of a Fire Truck of this Umbrella Carnival Ride.
I took these Photographs with my Minolta Maxxim 5000 SLR with Color Print Film and scanned the Negative to create this Electronic Image. I cleaned up the Image with Photoshop Elements™.
Disclaimer: Since I took these photos while I was still learning Photography, some of my original Negatives were of such poor quality in both Exposure and Sharpness, which I could only partially correct with Adobe Photoshop™ and Photomatix™.
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
This is the original flag that flew over Iwo Jima on Mount Suribachi.
I wasn't supposed to use the flash, but I kind of did on accident and the gentleman watching over it was not too pleased with me.
Confederate flag in the middle, flag of the Palmetto Guards on the left and SC state flag on the right. Raised after Federal troops surrendered the fort.
