A project for the 30th anniversary of the Solway Quilters' Group was for us each to make a bunting flag. They will all be displayed at the 30th Anniversary meeting, and will be kept for posterity. The blue fabric was provided and we were asked to include a pinwheel in the design. The rest was up to us. I have included a naif-style applique, including some petals on the flowers, which echo the shapes in the pinwheel.

The red and yellow Northumbrian flag flies alongside two St George's Crosses on the southbound A1. To me, the Northumbrian flag looks like the Catalan one on the Barcelona shirt; just me then? Oh...
Kiribati is an island nation in the mid-Pacific Ocean. The map-maker calls it "a mysterious place with no name." It may well be a mysterious place, but it does have a name: Kiribati.
There is a 5 acre Walled Garden next to the car park which is laid out in a series of "rooms".
In 1991, the present Lord Cholmondeley wanted to create a new garden within the walls of the old kitchen garden in memory of his grandmother, Lady Sybil Cholmondeley. What you can see today is a series of "ornamental gardens" or "rooms", including a double-sided herbaceous border, an Italian garden, and several statues and ornamental features.
