Shelves in kitchen...hard to take a picture of when you're standing on a chair and trying to hold the light fixture out of the way while taking the picture!

WEEK 13 – Wolfchase Sears Closing, Set IV (LL)
In contrast, here’s a closer look from within that cluttered jungle of Sears fixtures across the way. While some stuff over here did indeed have fixture sale stickers on it (such as those clothing racks in the foreground), I got the impression – from the scattered nature of various component parts stuffed into carts and bins – that much of the stuff over here wasn’t quite ready for sale just yet. That said, there’s a chance I’m wrong… who knows!

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)
The blue Kmart Jewelry Department counter was replaced during the Sears Essentials remodel with these Sears fixtures. The taupe carpeting is also from the Sears Essentials days.
------------------
The Kmart of Parsippany opened in 1998 and was a flagship Big Kmart store for the company. It was one of the company's first Big Kmart stores, and the store was featured on the commercial which launched the Big Kmart concept nationwide.
In the commercial, a blue tarp is being removed from the sign as the Big Kmart jingle is played "There's a new old friend in the same old place, with a brand new name and a brand new face". A mock parade was even staged in nearby Boonton, NJ with Kathy Ireland jogging down the main street and Martha Stewart driving an 18-wheeler. Scenes of Bob Hope eating breakfast were filmed at the local Boonton Diner.
The 120,000 sq. ft. Big Kmart store replaced a former Kmart one mile up the highway, which had originally been a J.M. Fields. In 2005, the store was re-bannered as Sears Essentials. New Sears carpeting, separate dressing rooms for men and women, and better-quality Sears fixtures were installed as part of the conversion. Unfortunately, many departments were poorly merchandised and shoppers encountered lots of empty shelf space in the huge store. To top it off, Eddie Lampert and his crew raised prices. The previously proud and busy Kmart quickly became a place people avoided and the store was often deserted.
In 2010, the company admitted defeat on the concept and after a 2-day liquidation, the store reverted back to Kmart. Most of the Sears fixtures were left in place but the store did receive a very seldom seen and short-lived Kmart interior package with red and white department signage featuring pictures of people.
Update (August, 2017): Sears announced that this store will close by the end of 2017.

A lot of the shelving and fixturing at this JCPenney had already been spoken for at this early stage of the liquidation, though many smaller items were still up for grabs. Doubtful they ended up selling anything with the JCPenney logo on it, unless it was that short-lived, all lowercase logo they would like to pretend never happened!

The ANSH scavenger6 item was an unusual light fixture. This is in my diningroom and is probably the most unusual in the house.
I have one that I was thinking of using as a wildcard which we found in a Chinese/fusion restaurant in the NL. It was a unique place with iPad like devices for ordering- no waitstaff, just servers for when your food had been prepared. I’ll pour that fixture in the photostream in a bit.

This is looking in just to the right of the main entrance looking toward the left side of the store. Albertsons still owns this building even 2 years after leaving Florida. It's worth noting that some of the fixtures are gone since my last visit in 2017. Could Albertsons still clinging onto this place signify an eventual return to Florida in some fashion? Highly doubtful. They are still closing stores sporadically here and there across the West. The Eastern division is closing its Maryland distribution center. It would take a lot of people demanding Albertsons to come back to Florida for that to happen. And even if there were enough people wanting them back, it would be very difficult for them to compete in this highly saturated Publix market.
In hindsight I'm sure Albertsons is glad they didn't acquire Sprouts. With the departure of Lucky's and Earth Fare, I could see Sprouts also falling victim to the organics chain bloodbath. For the most part we're down to Whole Foods and The Fresh Market, and an occasional Sprouts.

One of the light fixtures in my basement was giving far less light than the others. I bought a new tube, climbed up the ladder to change it, and found this when I took out the old one. No, I did NOT install a new tube.
