This light hangs in my office at home. I'm pretty sure it's original, dates from when the house was built. If so, it's 97 years old. The petals are milk glass, the central circle is clear pebbled glass, and it's topped off (bottomed off???) with a bullet-shaped brass nut.
I assembled this ceiling lamp shade from pre-cut flatpack pieces of thick translucent plastic. Very like assembling modular origami with no actual folding involved. If you try this, I highly recommend watching a few videos first. The real difficulty for me was attaching it. You have to leave one section out, insert the hanging bulb then finagle the last piece back in place essentially working blind. In my case, the ceiling was high and the fixture located nearly out of my reach on the ladder. Hopefully the bulb will never need changing!
rented a 5dmkII as a second body for a conference i'm shooting this week, so new camera means new view of the old obsession.
