This is one of the lighting fixtures that I use for photography. For the Smile on Saturday "Odd One Out" theme, I replaced the fifth white spiral fluorescent bulb in the center of the fixture with a blue incandescent bulb. The blue bulb, of course, then becomes the "odd one out."

The station, designed by Otto Wagner, went into operation in June 1899 as part of the Vienna Stadtbahn (Wiener Stadtbahn). Today it is a station on the U4 underground line.
"The Vienna Stadtbahn [...] was a rail-based public transportation system operated under this name from 1898 until 1989. Today, the Vienna U-Bahn lines U4 and U6 and the Vienna S-Bahn (commuter rail) run on its former lines."*
The Stadtbahn "is one of the main works of the architect Otto Wagner, who not only uniformly designed the substructure and all building structures such as retaining walls, lining walls, bridges, viaducts, tunnel portals and stations, but also all the associated ticket and luggage counters, floor coverings, railings, lifts, grilles, gates, furniture, water pipes and heating and lighting fixtures. The infrastructure has been largely preserved and is one of the city's sights as an overall work of art in the transitional style between late historicism and early art nouveau. Today, all the facilities are listed monuments."**
As you can see, I wasn't the only one photographing this eyeball. I really makes a statement. This is from the Dallas trip. I really want to go back. I feel like there is so much more to see. Here's some information on the Eye
Tony Tasset’s larger-than-life optic sculpture, Eye, has become one of the most iconic (and rumor-generating) fixtures on Main Street.
The 30-foot-tall fiberglass, resin, and steel sculpture is a replica of the American multimedia artist’s own eye. Referencing everything from a pharaoh’s eye, a Masonic eye, and the eye of “Big Brother,” the piece ultimately means “whatever you want,” says Tasset. “Eye is one of those images that has taken on a number of meanings over the years. God and consciousness are just two of them.”
Originally commissioned as part of the Chicago Loop Alliance’s Art Loop program, Eye made its debut in the Windy City’s Pritzker Park in 2010 before arriving in its new Dallas home three years later. Since then, it has become the city’s most unique private event space and the site of the annual Dallas Art Fair’s closing soiree The Eye Ball, along with countless weddings, parties, yoga classes, and selfies.
Living in the shadow of the Duluth ore docks, the Hallett Dock Co. had been a fixture in Duluth since 1963. They moved a number of bulk commodities, but among railfans were known for loading DM&IR ore cars with limestone for the mines as well as their rare Fairbanks Morse H10-44. One day as an innocent 18 year old fresh out of high school, I found myself with Josh Dulak and we in turn found ourselves shooting the Proctor Road Switch shoving into Lakehead. We looked over at Hallett and saw a switch engine moving some brand new BNSF pellet cars. Being young and full of confidence, we walked in and asked if there was any way we could go take some pictures. The receptionist was very nice and said to hold on, she was going to go get someone. Out of a back office came someone named Jerry. He looked us over and said "Well boys, I can't just let you wander around out there..." we braced for the other shoe to drop "But if you want you can jump in my truck and I'll give you a tour and you can take whatever pictures you want!" We were in! Way back towards the waterfront an old SW with friction trucks was spotting up brand new BNSF ore cars to be dumped, filled with what looked like sinter. After we were done, he dropped us off at the office and said he had to run, and thanked us for taking an interest in the Hallett Dock Co. As we turned in our hard hats, I asked the receptionist what Jerry's job was. It turns out the man was none other than Jerry Fryberger, an iconic Duluth name and the current Chairman of the Board, serving in that role following his retirement as President! I'm sure he doesn't remember us, but I'll always remember that day.
The Manor house has been through a few owners over the past one hundred years. As a result there is no original furniture left in the building.
In the West facing drawing room there was an art exhibition on, in the upper floors (only accessible with a guided tour. some of the fixtures from previous owners remain.

sectional detail view of a circular overhead light fixture

I was visiting a sick friend in the hospital and I happened to look up over her bed and see what looked (to me) like a very compassionate light fixture. It also seemed as though it might burst into tears, any second. It was a little weird, almost like having a relationship with a light fixture. I've got to get more sleep !!
