This one still stands and is occupied on the west end of Alfred Street. It was built for JP Donaldson in the 1870's, relatively early for Brush Park. For a time it was used as a boarding house and is now again a single family residence. It appears to be intact on the exterior at least!

By personal choice, my hikes do not normally bring me and my camera past old buildings. When I happen upon one, I stop to marvel that it is still standing. and to wonder what it was like to live in that Fixer Upper's "heyday."

A few years ago, a young widow from Ohio had moved to the Delmarva area. Heartbroken, she purchased this fixer-upper so she could have an island retreat on the water on Tilghman Island. Alas, the property has been wasting away, and I'm not certain if the beautiful lady will return. True story...

This house is quite striking to me. It is too charming and well-located to be so neglected. This might look like it's in the outskirts of town, but just behind that stand of trees behind it and a few yards to the right is a major hospital. With such tall trees on all sides of the house, that roof only gets direct sunlight when the summer sun is directly overhead, so I don't I don't know if that moss is decade's worth of neglect or just a few years. My guess is that the previous owners got too old to maintain the house and things got too out-of-hand for the heirs to wanna deal with.
