I posted a B&W version of this place last month, but kinda liked this HDR version too. Lots of great details if you take a second and view large. Hope everyone has a great weekend (three days for those of us in the U.S. who actually get to take Columbus Day off).
Photographed from Amtrak's "Empire Builder" train travelling across the plains of eastern Montana, on our way to Glasgow.

other houses beside and behind...all being lived in...but, this happens here and there. For some reason...nobody does anything about them. Half the time I think nobody knows who the property belongs to...so it just gets left alone.... I wonder if the door is still locked? ..I didn't even try to open it.

I think that the weather was absolutely perfect for this scene -- this beautifully broke-down home was photographed (by me :) ) from the roadside in the central part of Texas along the back roads somewhere between Temple & Waco.
Be sure to add me as one of your favorite photographers!

My favorite thing about wandering around out in the woods is finding things you didn't expect to find.
This house is quite striking to me. It is too charming and well-located to be so neglected. This might look like it's in the outskirts of town, but just behind that stand of trees behind it and a few yards to the right is a major hospital. With such tall trees on all sides of the house, that roof only gets direct sunlight when the summer sun is directly overhead, so I don't I don't know if that moss is decade's worth of neglect or just a few years. My guess is that the previous owners got too old to maintain the house and things got too out-of-hand for the heirs to wanna deal with.

Silos at Magnolia Market If you have ever watched the show Fixer Upper you would be familiar with Chip and Jo-Jo and there newly opened Magnolia Market. A fun place to place to visit in Waco, TX on a family outing
One of the many cars located in Nelson Ghost Town, Nevada. It’s a few miles south of Las Vegas and definitely worth visiting.

I'm always flabbergasted at the sight of this house--an oddly proportioned beige mega-McMansion of late-1980s/early-1990s vintage raised up above a new ground-level in a project that's been stalled for years, it seems--every time I pass by it on the old Highway 99. The MLS listing for this property provide scant details besides the price of $390,000 and that it is zoned commercial and no longer suitable for residential use. It definitely looks like a live/work situation for someone who hates to commute but doesn't mind if everyone else commutes. This property is just a smidge more than an acre sandwiched between this fast section of the old Highway 99 and I-5 just past the back property line.
This place apparently began as someone's ambitious dreamhouse.
Many of the buildings at Playland have fallen into disrepair and disuse over the years. There's periodic talk about fixing them up, but who knows now with covid? It should have been done years ago...

During one of my recent walks in San Francisco, I came across this old house, sandwiched between two modern apartment buildings on a residential street in the Richmond district of San Francisco.
I wondered who used to live in this old Victorian before it became dilapidated, perhaps tending to the roses and the garden, or sitting on the stairs or in the living room, enjoying the California sun...

Magnolia Market at the Silos, commonly called Magnolia Market, is a shopping complex that encompasses two city blocks in Downtown Waco, Texas. It is marked by two 120’ high silos, built in 1950 as part of the Brazos Valley Cotton Oil Company. The Brazos Valley Cotton Oil Mill Company closed in 1958, and the silos ceased to serve as storage in the 1990's. The grounds opened to the public as the Silos Property in October 2015. The complex is owned by Chip and Joanna Gaines, TV personalities best known for HGTV's Fixer Upper TV series. The Gaineses completely transformed the Waco landmark, which helped to change the city as well as many surrounding areas.
This (along with the Silos Baking Company) was the reason we visited Waco on our 30th anniversary road trip. My wife has been asking to go for years and these were the top of the list for her when we started planning...
