A visit to the Emperor's villa in Nikko, renovated and now a beautiful museum with lots of helpful explanations. There were still remnants of snow outside, and the villa was unheated to preserve the beautiful wood, tatami and fittings. We were walking around in slippers, and very soon, my feet felt like blocks of ice.
Near Skidway Lake MI, an example of how even the forgotten artifacts of modern life can eventually become one with their environment. I enjoy this scene every time I pass by.
