Beautiful sunrise in Dørålen, Rondane NP...

It's always breathtaking to watch a prairie sunrise - the moment before the world is born, and then the spreading light. I often turn my attention away from the east or southeast, toward the landscape in the process of being illuminated. The pink blush on distant hills; the warm glow. On this outing I had three Plains Bison - older, "bachelor bulls" that prefer to be far from the chaos of herd life - and one of them added the final touch to this panorama of the Frenchman River Valley at first light.

First light hits Mt. Shasta and this flock. It was our first of three early cold mornings there. On the other two, Mt Shasta was covered in fog.

A break in the predawn snowstorm provided a good opportunity to view Emerald Peak and the Cilantro Cafe. Only 2 other photogs here to share this morning beauty at Emerald Lake. So serene and quiet, till the buses arrived. A favorite morning.

"Legendary guide Tom Wilson first stumbled across this small gem of a lake – famed for its jade-coloured waters – in 1882 during the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway. It was Wilson who gave the lake its name because of its remarkable colour, caused by fine particles of glacial sediment, also referred to as rock flour, suspended in the water. However, this was not the first time Wilson had dubbed a lake 'Emerald'. Earlier that same year he had discovered another lake which he had given the same moniker, and the name even appeared briefly on the official map. This first lake however, was shortly renamed Lake Louise."

Enjoy a wonderful Sunday!

Southeast Nebraska.

While fishing the Brunet River in the early morning sun, this beautiful Bald Eagle kept a close eye on my activity, while carefully watching the river for a breakfast meal. She stayed a while before spotting a morsel down river. There can't be a better way to spend a crisp autumn morning.

Soybeans on a curve. Thanks for the look. Have a great evening.

A sunrise trek to Mt. Batur is an unforgettable adventure that promises breathtaking views. As you climb in the early morning, excitement builds in the cool air. Reaching the summit just in time for dawn, you witness the sky transform into a canvas of vibrant colors. As the first rays of light hit the surrounding landscape, the mist begins to rise, revealing the beautiful surroundings. It’s a moment of pure joy and wonder ⛰️😍

And from the darkness a bright light shines forth. Rainier's many glaciers capture the day's first light reflected in a calm Tipsoo Lake. This is one of the most iconic and popular places for photographers in the Pacific NW.

"With 26 major glaciers and 36 sq mi of permanent snowfields and glaciers, Mount Rainier is the most heavily glaciated peak in the lower 48 states. The summit is topped by two volcanic craters, each more than 1,000 ft in diameter, with the larger east crater overlapping the west crater. Geothermal heat from the volcano keeps areas of both crater rims free of snow and ice, and has formed the world's largest volcanic glacier cave network within the ice-filled craters, with nearly 2 mi of passages. A small crater lake about 130 by 30 ft in size and 16 ft deep, the highest in North America with a surface elevation of 14,203 ft (4,329 m), occupies the lowest portion of the west crater below more than 100 ft of ice and is accessible only via the caves." The tour boats are just starting to fill up and head to the Horseshoe Falls. The sun is catching the mist of the Falls and the activity along the river is escalating. The new day is beginning at Niagara Falls Ontario, Canada.

The early morning sun lights up character parts of the forest en the trees, a specially the tree on the right.

Four hours sleep and I came very close to turning the alarm off and going back to sleep. I had a quick look out of the curtains and could see a sliver of red on the horizon and some nice clouds that were just beginning to catch some colour.

I'd driven over the previous evening having spent sunset at Ferrybridge, before arriving at Staithes in the dark around midnight. Took a couple of attempts driving either side of the Staithe's Beck to find the viewpoint. It's a blink and you'll miss it location alongside a small path of cottages.

I wasn't expecting to see anyone else but there was someone already setup taking images. We got chatting and it turned out to be a fellow Flickr user who I follow. She told me about the Staithes group of artists who were active from the arrival of the railways in the late 19th century to the start of WW1 and who were heavily influenced by French impressionism, before later developing their own style. My research had only extended to Captain Cook who lived in Staithes from 1744 before his much heralded maritime adventures. It must've been the week for it because I bumped into three other Flickr users during the next couple of days.

We were treated to a super sunrise which was fairly brief in terms of colour. I'd checked where the sun was due to rise and thought it'd be further to the left so was pleasantly surprised to have a clear view.

I packed up and walked down the cobbled streets, lined with colourful cottages to the harbour and sat for a few moments watching the sun get higher and light the cliffs up as the village began to come to life.

6 shot pano.

Just back from a week in Glen Isla, The weather was typically "Scottish" but the sun did show it's face once or twice. This was taken just behind our cottage in Kirkton in Glenisla on the long distance footpath, the Cateran way.

No HDR. Single RAW Shot converted to Jpeg in Elements.

Exploring North Medford at sunrise. I could feel the energy in the air as fine snow started to fall over the Minas Basin accentuating the patterns in the sand that change with every tide.

Donald where's your trousers.

Donald works the night shift security and on this rather humid morning he had his Scotland shorts on, telling me he has an hour to put his hotel uniform back on but I was fine to park. He let's these things go until before the first bus arrives. Just outside is a bus stop that advertises itself as the most scenic bus stop in the world. It's hard not to agree.
