Staithes at sunrise.

A LE capture on a wet misty September morn of Mt. Rainier catching the first warmth of the day. Taken along the path at Reflection Lake.

Enjoy a wonderful first week of May!

A Flickr friend posted a wonderful image of this boathouse in snowy conditions recently and it reminded me I hadn't looked at mine yet.

I had a look at them last night and quite like this one.

Aerial sunrise at the beach with colourful high cloud at Umina Point, Umina Beach on the Central Coast, NSW, Australia.

Finally got around to going through the external drive I backed up and transferred a few images.

Long way down here but waking up and watching the daybreak right on the beach was one of the trips I enjoyed the most last year.

I was intrigued with this landscape as it looks like a lizard.

Kilchurn Castle is a ruined structure on a rocky peninsula at the northeastern end of Loch Awe, in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It was first constructed in the mid-15th century as the base of the Campbells of Glenorchy, who extended both the castle and their territory in the area over the next 150 years. After the Campbells became Earls of Breadalbane and moved to Taymouth Castle, Kilchurn fell out of use and was in ruins by 1770.

I took this image from Upper Burbage Bridge whilst heading towards Stanage Edge last Sunday. I'd intended to get to the edge before the sun came up but arrived too late so I pulled over as soon as I saw the light catching the top of Higger Tor and took a few images from the roadside with the lens I had to hand before the moment passed.

~may your hopes be as high as the mountains and your smiles be as wide as the range....:-)

First light on Mt. Rainier, seen from Dege Peak. Was fun hiking here in the dark to be ready for the show to begin at daybreak.

Easy to see why this section of the Park is named "Sunrise."

Happy Friday!

I adore this time of the morning and this view!

This was the view as I opened the curtains on the veranda window as we sailed into the Arctic Circle on the Norwegian Inside Passage.

First light on what would be the start of our first day high up on the Norwegian Coastline. The light and dawn colours were fabulous and the crisp air revealing the distant mountains. The memory card and camera were in for a good workout!

With the breeding season coming to an end for them, the Juvenile will be fledging and leaving the nest to live independently in the coming weeks.

Taken bleary eyed after the late night drive from Ribblehead, 4hrs sleep and seconds after opening the van door whilst miraculously locating the camera in the dark. I suppose there is only so much space in a SWB Vivaro for a camera to go missing but you'd be surprised:)

Quiet night in work tonight so slippers on, brew on the go and the dog looking ever hopeful she's about to be taken out for a walk.

My regularly midweek park up spot if I'm around Keswick. Rarely anyone here on account of a large boulder that makes it difficult for larger vans to park level.

It's a beautiful spot to wake up to and this was taken about 05:00am with a fresh brew and sorry vegans, rashers of lovely smoky bacon on the go.

It's such a good spot being able to see large areas of sky, the expanse of Derwentwater and also what the clouds look like South to Borrowdale and South West towards Buttermere.

It gives you so many options and if you're not tied to any one location then I don't think there is a finer spot to decide where you're off for sunrise.

Mists flowing over the paleo-reef

One of those misty mornings with some nice clouds in the sky, and a little gap in them to let that glimmer of light through at the first sunrise on the horizon. There's something kind of magical about watching all the seabirds "commute" to work in the morning... in particular there was one seagull that seemed to be outright curious of me, and was essentially circling me for nearly an hour while the other birds went about their business. I probably could have had the low flying cormorants in the frame too had I waited long enough for that perfect moment. These are large Pelicans, and why they tend to fly in flocks of 8 or so probably has something to do with efficient fishing or flying I'd imagine.

First light on a late winter day at Sauvie Island, Oregon.

Dawn at Bandon, along the north Pacific coast. The "barking dog" is the sea stack on the right.

First Light Mixed With Fog

Cautiously I shall raise

Myself to watch the daylight win.”

I've not been down here very often recently as the water level has been a good 1.5m lower than normal revealing Ellesmere Port's very own 'beach,' which has been the source of much amusement on the local social media groups with people taking deckchairs down for picnics. 'El Porto has never looked finer,' and 'Who needs Benidorm?' type posts.

I asked on the ship canal FB group why it was so low and the replies were another source of much amusement. A full on argument ensued where the majority insisted it was lack of rain and the streams and brooks that feed the canal were low too. The sensible amongst us pointed out we have had much longer periods without rain, such as the hot spell during lockdown but nope....it was definitely due to lack of rain. One person even extended an offer of fisticuffs, 'I'll fight anyone that tries to say it's for any other reason than lack of rain. The level of stupidity being shown in this group staggers me!'

It descended further until Godwin's Law happened and one person accused another of being a Nazi and a vicious Brexiteer.

I'd bowed out but remained firmly in the camp of there must be another reason other than lack of rain.

This is an older shot but I went down yesterday and the water level was back to normal....overnight! And we hadn't suddenly had a biblical downpour to make 20 odd miles of canal rise 1.5m.

After a little more research I discovered there had been embankment repair works upstream at Warrington. Go figure.....

Social media was alive with many 'RIP El Porto beach, you will be sorely missed,' type posts:)

The Ten Peaks were shrouded this chilly autumn morning which created a beautiful moody ambience for first light. Waited hours before a peak finally poked thru (seen below).

Never a bad day here.

Enjoy a wonderful Holiday weekend!

First light on the Sawtooths Mt. McGown reflected in Stanley Lake. Who needs sleep when one can enjoy such beauty as this with their morning coffee? Even the coffee tastes better.

Your visits are always appreciated!

Enjoy a wonderful Wednesday!

First light on Oregon's Smith Rock reflected in Crooked River. Who needs sleep when one can start the day with beauty like this?!

Naps are good though.....

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

A chilly early April morning looking across Otterbield Bay to Skiddaw.

You might say: It's cold! 'Yes', but I love it. When the first light arrives you forget your cold fingers.
