Taken on the first day of spring!

It was a beautiful first day of spring. We went for a walk with our snowshoes on through Kinsmen Park in the Hiawatha Highlands. The creeks were running, the icicles were dripping, the sun was shinning, the birds were singing...what a wonderful day to be outdoors!

Today the 20th March is ment to be the first day of spring.

I have the nicest husband. He sent me flowers to school today for the first day of spring. He knew that it was DILO for me; so, he wanted to make sure I had something to photograph. I took my Nikon D80 with me to school today. Fortunately, my back is no longer hurting; so, I didn't have a problem carrying it around at lunchtime and after school.

I'm glad that Floyd is giving me a trim tomorrow morning.

I was running late this morning and got behind a police car that was behind a slow car. Coming in my direction were several large tractors going toward fields in this agricultural region of south Georgia

I'm actually rather glad I was behind this guy instead of in front of him when he took off. I would have feared for my camera!!!!!

Monday is the first day of spring and we have been told to expect the biggest snow storm of the year, up to 16-19 inches (40-48+ cm) by Tuesday. I guess this is to be expected when one has enjoyed a winter that felt more like spring.

This photo was featured on the NBC 5 Chicago 10PM newscast on 3/22, and in the 3/24 edition of the Chicago Sun-Times. When asked by Alison Rosati of his thoughts on this "weather photo" title, he said "Just beautiful."

Every time we go to Dauset Trails Nature Center we hope THIS time we'll get to see the bear actually awake. Maybe even see him walking around.

Maybe one day.
