first day of spring, but no buds, yet

Its the start of spring, day and night are equal in length and one can balance an egg since the Sun's gravity is at a straight line with the Earth's axis :)

a.k.a. "Pippin Lickin' Good," as Anne has dubbed him. I'm considering this shot for the VPC photo phortnite project ... not necessarily that his tongue is my "favorite poodle part" (how can I pick a favorite? There's so much to love about noses and paws an ears and tails and curly fur and pretty much everything about poodles) ... but it is the part that seems to define him.

How can one help shivering with delight when one's hot fingers close around the stem of a live flower, cool from the shade and stiff with newborn vigor!

I was going to post pictures of tulips or trees springing into life, but I was given this rose today by a boy whose heart was broken. For the world, today was the first day of spring, but for him today was one of the worst of his life. For every beginning there must be an end.

And then I realized that my relationship with someone was dead. That we weren't really even friends because he couldn't even say it when I asked what we were. I can't call him a friend. When I take a hint I take it pretty hard. But it is killing me.

Lena and I headed outside to take some pictures. Today is not only the First day of April, but the first day in quite a while that it seemed nice enough to go outside!

Have a wonderful Spring weekend, everyone!

Very far away and almost in the sun.

This one I could see from our hotel room.

158/365 First day of Spring!!! Attended the annual highlight of spring break - College Royal at UoG. What a great way to spring into spring! Lots of sunshine today and hours of fun with the kids. Teddy Bear Surgery was most popular as always. Spotted these yellow crocuses. Spring is definitely here.

This year the Missouri Botanical Garden will be featuring this Floral Clock with changing flowers and plants throughout the season. It is located next to the reflecting ponds in front of the Climatron.

Piranesi quote: "I need to produce great ideas, and I believe that if I were commissioned to design a new universe, I would be mad enough to undertake it."

Tried taking some photos of the field of crocus at the Missouri Botanical Garden, got home and did not like a one of them. The flowers didn't seem as abundant this year as they were last year, maybe I was earlier last year??? This is the only photo I salvaged, liked the color and shadow.

Look what was hiding under the snow!

We did not plant the crocus. I guess they are a gift from Mother Nature and the birds.

March 20, 2012--Happy First Day of Spring & Happy Birthday to me! I'll be celebrating, out & about, in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, USA. I saw this unusual butterfly in Wiscasset, Maine, USA on March 13, 2012.

he had a name for this look too, its not "pirate" but something else equally amusing.

They have cool new lights at Chili's now. I photographed this one a while ago and thought I had some great shots - I wanted to be able to see the filament. But when I got home and tried to upload them I realized my memory card had sh*t the bed and the photos were gone. There is only one lamp in the restaurant with this unfrosted bulb and tonight we were able to sit a the very same table. P1090405

Yesterday, was a wonderful sunny day for the Spring Equinox! I had to get out to see what was blooming and found these frilly yellow trumpeters of spring in my side yard. :-D These warm my heart.

I borrowed this from William Wordsworth, I hope you all enjoy!

"The Daffodils"

"I wandered lonely as a cloud

That floats on high o'er vales and hills,

When all at once I saw a crowd,

A host, of golden daffodils;

Beside the lake, beneath the trees,

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine

And twinkle on the Milky Way,

They stretched in never-ending line

Along the margin of a bay:

Ten thousand saw I at a glance,

Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they

Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:

A Poet could not but be gay,

In such a jocund company:

I gazed—and gazed—but little thought

What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood,

They flash upon that inward eye

Which is the bliss of solitude;

And then my heart with pleasure fills,

And dances with the daffodils."

Ten more images of snowflakes that I took last Friday.
