Racks for centerpull bosses are typically made "deck first". This curves the deck downwards to meet the posts. When you attach the backstop, it's a bit further forward than this method, maybe as much as 1". If I do as shown above, and build the backstop first, the rack will attach to the backstop and draw the bag closer to the steerer. I'm not sure if handling difference will be noticeable, but it sure won't hurt!

Note also that I'm attaching directly to a bolt on brake. In this particular case the customer just wants a rack, not brazed on posts - which would be more costly, and also require a repaint of the fork, and probably the frame as well.

I have to make sure the brake is perfectly centered first, and the brake posts are parallel to the fork crown. Once I make the rack, that geometry will be locked in.

The first vehicle into the Southern National fleet to be in Barbie corporate livery was T830 RYC, an East Lancs bodied Dennis Dart, one of four purchased for the 21/21A routes out of Taunton. 830 had yet to enter service when snapped in August 1999 at Taunton depot.
