once a year
they remember us
our wrinkles
our sufferings
our hair turned grey
their sense of shame
that they call it a
Mothers Day
they who threw
us on the roads
like human stray
bitter hardships
pain that has
become a mothers
mainstay
thank you
children of a lesser god
may you too become mothers
one day
so your childrens children
will also
remember a mother
this way
on Mothers Day
maternal instincts
a bounced cheque
that does not pay
a mother sitting
outside her
childrens doorway
curdled milk
of motherhood on display
glossy society
paying lip service
on the tombstone
of a Mothers decay
a Memoriam Mass
called Mothers Day
A name
my father and my mother chose
Yes they named me Firoze
After a man who vindicated
The oppressors of Islam
With a grinding blow
No sword no spear no cross bows
Yazidiyat too will die
When Hussainiyat
This accursed disease
of spiritual terrorism overthrows
a victory that a name Hussain echoes

SHIASM - It's Origin and it's Growth
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
The History
Shiasm began with a reference made for the first time to the partisans of Ali Ibin Abe Taleb(as) or the Shi'at of Ali, the First Imam or the first Leader of all the Muslims. Who in turn was part of the Holy Infallible Fourteen(as) of the Ahlu Al-Bayt(as) or the Household of The Holy Prophet (pbuh), during the lifetime of The Prophet Mohammad (pbuh).
The course of the first manifestation and the later growth of Islam during the twenty-three years of His prophecy brought about many conditions which necessitated the appearance of a group such as the Shi'ites among the companions of The Prophet.
The Messenger of God during the first days of His Holy Prophecy, when according to the text of The Holy Qur'an, was commanded by God to invite His closer relatives to come to His religion.
He told them very clearly that whoever would be the first to accept His invitation would then become His sole successor, calipha and inheritor. Ali Ibin Abe Taleb then a small boy of about twelve years of age, was the first to step forth and embrace Islam. The Prophet accepted Ali's submission to the faith and thus fulfilled his promise.
From the Shi'ite point of view it appears as unlikely that the Leader of a new movement, during the first days of His activity, should introduce to strangers one of His associates as His successor and deputy but not introduce him to His completely loyal and devout aides and friends.
Nor does it appear likely that such a Leader should accept someone as His deputy and successor and introduce him to others as such, but then throughout his life and religious call deprive His deputy of his duties as deputy, disregard the respect due to his position as the appointed successor, and refuse to make any distinctions between him and others.
The Prophet, according to many unquestioned and completely authenticated Ahadeeth, both Sunni and Shi'ite, clearly asserted that Ali was infallible of any wrong doings and sin in all his actions and sayings. Whatever he said and did was perfect and true in every conformity with the teachings of the religion, and he was notably undisputedly the most knowledgeable of all men on the face of the earth, in all matters pertaining to the Islamic sciences and injunctions.
During the period of the prophecy Ali performed valuable services and made untold remarkable sacrifices. When the infidels of Mecca decided to kill The Prophet and surrounded His house. The Holy Prophet decided to emigrate to Medina. He turned to Ali and asked him,
"Will you sleep in my bed at night so that they will think that I am asleep, and I will be secure from being pursued by them?"
Ali readily accepted this dangerous assignment with open arms. This has been recounted in different histories and collections of hadeeth.
The emigration of the Muslims from Mecca to Yathrib marks the date of origin of the Islamic calendar, known as the Hijrah.
Ali also served Islam by fighting courageousily in the battles of Badr, Uhud, Khaybar, Khandaq, and Hunayn in which the great victories was achieved with his aid were such that if Ali had not been present the enemy would most likely have uprooted Islam and the Muslims, as is recounted in the usual histories, life of The Prophet, and collections of Ahadeeth.
For the Shia, the central evidence of Ali's legitimacy as the sole successor to The Prophet is in the event of Ghadeer Khum, when The Holy Prophet chose Ali above all else, to the 'General Guardianship' (Waldyat Imamah) of the people and made Ali, like himself, 'their guardian' (Wali).
It is obvious that because of such distinctive services and recognition, because of Ali's special virtues which were acclaimed by all, and because of the great love The Prophet showed for him. As well as some of the Companions of The Prophet who knew Ali also well, and who were also champions of virtue and truth, came to love Ali too. They all assembled around Ali and followed him to such an extent that many others began to consider their love for him excessive and a few perhaps also became jealous of him. Besides all these elements, we see in many sayings of The Prophet reference to the "Shia of Ali" and to the "Shia of The Household of the Prophet", or The Ahlu Bayt.
The Cause of the Separation of: The Shi'ite Minority from the Sunni Majority
The friends and followers of Ali believed that after the death of The Prophet the caliphate and religious authority (Marja'iyat Al-Ilmi) hence only belonged to Ali.
This belief came from their consideration of Ali's position and station in relation to The Prophet. His relation to be the chosen from among the all companions, as well as his relationship towards the Muslims in general.
It was only the events that occurred during the few days of The Prophet's final illness that indicated that there was opposition to their view. Contrary to their expectation, at the very moment when The Prophet died and His Holy dead body lay still unburied, while The Prophet's household and a few faithful companions were pre-occupied with providing for The Prophet's burial and funeral service.
That the friends and followers of Ali received news of the activity of another group who had gone to The Prophet's Mosque where the whole community of the Muslims was gathered. The group supposingly were consoling each other and the gathered Muslims before them, faced with this sudden loss of its Leader.
This group, which was later to form the majority, set forth in great haste to select a caliph for the Muslims with the aim of ensuring the welfare of the community and solving its immediate problems. They did this without consulting the Household of The Prophet, or even His relatives or many of His friends, who were busy with the funeral, and without providing them with the least information. Thus Ali and his companions were presented with afait accompli.
When Ali and his friends such as Abbass, Zubayr, Salmiin, Abu Dharr, Miqdad and Ammar were finished with the burial of the body of the Prophet became aware of the proceedings by which the caliph had been selected. They protested against the act of choosing the Caliph by consultation or election, and also against those who were responsible for carrying it out. They even presented their own proofs and arguments, but the answer they received was that the welfare of the Muslims was at stake and solution lay in what had been done.
It was this protest and the criticism which separated the majority from the minority that were following Ali and made his followers known to society as the "Partisans"' or "Shia" of Ali.
The Caliphate of the time was anxious to guard against this appellation being given to the Shi'ite minority and thus to have Muslim society divided into sections comprised of a majority and a minority. The supporters of the caliph considered the caliphate to be a matter of the consensus of the community and called those who objected the 'opponents of the allegiance.'
They claimed that the Shia stood, therefore, opposed to Muslim society as a whole. Sometimes the Shia were given other pejorative and degrading names. Shiasm was then condemned from the first moment because of the political situation of the time and thus it could not accomplish anything through mere political protest.
Ali, in order to safeguard the well-being of Islam and of the Muslims, and also because of lack of sufficient political and military power, did not endeavor to begin an uprising against the existing political order, which would have been of a bloody nature. An uprising then would have destroyed and dismantled all that The Prophet had accomplished, and the danger of Islam disappear as quickly as it appeared. So Ali chose to be patient and worked quietly guiding Islam behind the scenes.
Yet those who protested against the established caliphate refused to surrender to the majority in certain questions of faith and continued to hold, quite rightly, that the succession to The Prophet and the religious authority belonged by Divine Right only to Ali. They believed that all spiritual and religious matters then should be referred to him and invited the people to become his followers.

A very essential health fruit for hair and used in general tonic .
Some boil it with jaggery and give it to Java Sparrows . mixed with lukewarm water .
I have never tried it yet .
Some make sweets using this fruit .
The Hyderabadis are kind courteous people ,and I shot the blue blooded Nawabs and the man at grass root level and they had one thing in common besides their love of Hussain , hospitality , khulus and respect that we call Athithi Devo Bhava .. guest is god in Indian cultural terminology, the azadar respects the zaireen and that is the crux of Moharam for among those who come to the majlis or farshe aza are the ladies of the Imams house the ladies that stood against the might of mighty Yazid.. and they say if you see the silhouette of three ladies its possible a mother a daughter and a little grand daughter might be the reflection of our pain that we call Ghame Hussain.
Wherever I went I was treated with humility and humility is the essence of Hussainiyat and the Imam did not bully his enemies he did not do what they did to him an his family so it hurts me when I see one Shia unnecessarily finding faults with the matam of another Shia .. heckling him abusing him ..and so I have kept away from Mumbai azadari completely .. my photography does not make me a Shia .. but what makes me human is the essence of respect for others and their faith.. I am lucky I was bought up very differently .. I have lived among Hindus Christians Anglo Indians Parsis Buddhists Sikhs Jains even Jews .. but their association did not mar my humanity or my love of Hussain.
My children my grand children follow the path of peace as taught by my parents..
I came to Hyderabad not merely to shoot pictures but to emotionalize what I saw what I felt , people who gave me shelter , and though I took limited sum of money I had to spend nothing on food .It was free Niyaz e Hussain.
I bought a bunch of memory cards and I still returned home with a unused amount of Rs 2000.
I should have not traveled by bus I am a diabetic , kidney stones but I had to get back to Mumbai my work my commitments , my responsibilities.
And today I am happy at heart on seeing my grand daughters Marziya Shakir and Nerjis Asif Shakir return from Lucknow after 25 days.
And they love me a lot.. I took Nerjis to the bazar and I realized she knows everyone shaking hands waving out to all the shop keepers .. this young street photographer waiting in the wings.
So shooting pictures and blogging are two different ends of a spectrum..
Nehru Nagar is a very populous slum on the most expensive Juhu stretch ,,and mostly Tamils and other communities live here in eternal peace .
The Nehru Nagar slums is held together by the Marriammen Temple , the pride of Hindu temples in Juhu area.
It is a bustling slums with shops , hawkers jostling for space and on the Marriamen Feast day it is choc a bloc every alley is packed while the Tamil women prepare Pongal to appease the Goddess the food is than offered to the homeless and the poor .
After a puja a goat is bought near the gate of the Temple , the priest blesses it , and applies haldi paste , the drums beat hypnotically , till the goat does not shiver or go in a trance the animal slaughter wont start ,, some places like Mahim Koliwada even kids women go into demonic possession ..
After that the goat is slaughtered by Ganesh the Butcher and poultry goats are sacrificed to the crescendo of the drums ..I shot this barefeet drenched in blood and on empty stomach and left after two hours .
I returned again to Juhu Beach to shoot the cheek piercings , hook insertions ..I shot a lot but did not complete the last final ritual of the removal of the rods at the Marriammen Temple Nehru Nagar .
I was too tired and exhausted I took a rickshah back home to Bandra.
And Flickr because of its change in the home page I think has affected my uploads , my batch uploads crash I called my Internet guy he said the fault lies at Flickr ,,
Its taken me over two days to upload all this ,, I have no issue uploading at Twitter Ello or Facebook.
