The right hand side of my two-piece desk unit. This is my networking corner with my Netgear FVG318 VPN and firewall, Cisco ATA 186 VoIP converter, Netgear SC101 SAN box and Apple AirPort Extreme router and wireless access point. I took this picture to demonstrate how nicely this amount of equipment could be cleaned up to look. This is a lot more networking gear than the average home would have, is very accessible and easy to keep clean, can be seen easily to check for problems and is out of the way. The AirPort could be stacked on the Netgear but it has the wireless and I didn't want to add any additional interference. The AirPort's AC Adapter could go on the floor too but I like it on the desk better. There is an APC UPS unit on the floor providing protected power to all of these units. My cable modem, which never needs any attention from me, is on the floor behind the desk. Not perfect but it didn't work well on the desk and I have only needed to touch it once or twice in the past year so I felt that it wasn't too big of a deal to have it there. If these was my house and not an apartment I would probably choose to mount the Netgear to the wall as it is designed to be wall mountable. That would clear space and make cabling somewhat easier. It could be mounted behind or beside the desk depending on how much one needs to access it or to watch its front panel.

It all started last night. I was sitting at work waiting for the clock to run out. I decided to go to my international-based website (http://ivoice.axlebath.net) Merita runs to look around and make sure everything is running fine and everything was clean.
Well, I got to the forum. We've been getting spam lately and there was some again. In the past it was diet pill spam and stuff like that, but last night there were two threads, both porn. The first one, straight porn, and the second gay.
Imagine what shock to the system it was for me to see on my own website on my own server, on a cream and blue website seeing a guy.......in another guy.
And yes, I had to see it so I could get the poster's IP address.
So, when I got home list night, until almost 5:00am I was going through Charlie Root emails that have been building up and blocking IP address on my firewall.
You know what I have noticed? Most hack attempts came from China, South Korea, and Russia. I decided to block any and all Chinese, Russian, and Korean IP address I come across. If they show up from Charlie Root, of course, spam, yep, and even from web stats.
To my joy, the majority of IP address yielded B-Class networks in the whois. In many cases, multiple B-Class networks.
This is a battle I intend to win. Charlie wants to keep out Charlie.
