My scratch-built Firefly handheld aethercannon. It's completely finished except for one minute detail--I'm going to add a clear bottle (teardrop shaped hopefully) to the end of the grip and put lights in it, thus the name "Firefly."
Main parts: A converted desk lamp, four ultra-thick (about 1/4" sides) cardboard tubes, a broken gauge, and a piece of chain link fence support.

Poor Firefly is pulled out of the water and going into storage while we move to Gatlinburg. At least she's going to be inside and ready for us anytime we make it back to Key West.
We pulled her just before hurricane Ike passed by.

Fireflies are familiar, but few realize that these insects are actually beetles, nocturnal members of the family Lampyridae. Most fireflies are winged, which distinguishes them from other luminescent insects of the same family, commonly known as glowworms.

I don't know which one I like more, this one or the other edit of it. Thoughts?
These are my friends Anna and Emily. I've posted pictures of them up here before.

We planned to visit once a year Firefly yesterday just after talked. Although not so much as I last saw in 東勢林場, lucky that there isn't much mosquito.

On warm, humid summer nights in the Midwestern US, thousands of beetles (Photuris lucicrescens) flash light from their lower abdomens as they fly about looking for mates. The light is produced by a chemical called luciferin in the presence of an enzyme (luciferase), magnesium, oxygen and ATP. Most of the fireflies in this shot are stationary females waiting in the trees for males responding to their flashes. A 28 second exposure provided good opportunity for mosquitos to feast on the photographer.
