Photinus pyralis. Eastern Firefly.
Canon 6D Mark II, Canon 16-35mm zoom @21mm. 16 30-second exposures @ ISO 800 and ƒ2.8. Layers combined in Photoshop CC with the top 15 layers in blending mode "Lighten," base layer "Normal." Post-processed in Lightroom Classic.
In spite of the 30-second exposure times there are relatively few motion streaks because the fireflies were flashing rapidly.
The camera was tethered via WiFi to an iPad Pro. Raw previews were uploaded quickly so that I was able to complete my exposure experimentation in a short time.
And in the sky, to my surprise, star trails. Surprise, because the sky was very bright with light pollution (looking north toward Baltimore) and no stars were visible to the unaided eye.

My version of the villain Firefly comes almost entirely from an alien minifig. To create the wings, I cut a bar so it fits between the clips of the wing piece and slipped a yellow bushing to act as a spacer and give it a little splash of color. I was going to do the gun very differently so I could fit a fire piece in the end, but I went with this design instead. Please copy this, it's a very easy mod to make.
I love cross stitching, but the kits available in stores are just so... boring. Then I found Etsy! I finished this design of the cast of "Firefly" Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011. The design came from an Etsy shop called Wee Little Stitches, which has lots of geeky stitch patterns. But I'm in love with this "Firefly" pattern.

At the border of the river at La Pierre Saint Martin (Pyrenés), there are lot of fireflies. Some of them are so kind to stop flying and to allow me taking a picture (Cosinon 135 mm + 24 mm tube).
On muggy, summer nights, as darkness overtook our backyards and the ravine beyond, fireflies were a swarm of stars, descended to earth, twinkling like an undulating veil. The next door Bagley kids, Janey and Jimmy, and I would scoop them up in glass jars. Their lights throbbed, their bodies clicked against the jars’ inside confines. A jar-full became a pulsing lantern in our hands. When we heard the metal bell to call us in for bed, we’d take the lids off and put the jars on the stone wall. In the morning, the bugs were gone.

Although there wasn't a great foreground for composition, the fireflies were putting on quite the display last night in the woods behind my condo so I wanted to play around with a few long exposure blends. Pikesville, Maryland.
Wasn't a huge fan of this figure at the time, but he's actually very nice. Best of all the new head sculpts from the Comic Packs
As Amos gazed through his telescope up into the heavens at the glittering stars, he also noticed some other glimmering lights in his lens. As he looked up, the air around him came alive with thousands of flickering fireflies. Just below Amos's treehouse, the rest of the forester village lies hidden deep in the green wood. The merry campfire with the lads roasting marshmallows, the rangers returning from their evening hike, and the happy camaraderie all made a pleasant atmosphere.

I put the Corrs & Ron Wood [would] Ruby Tuesday video in the Amber Waves blog, to see what I would get on Tuesday, two days after blog. and I got that, right after I left the Garden of Peace too.
