After the parade went by and we all followed it down to the stadium, I focused my attention and my camera on the interesting detritus on the street. Here, someone had dumped a cooler full of ice over a fallen leaf.

I wish the highlights weren't overexposed, and that I knew what kind of leaf it was, but you can't have everything. Where would you put it?

One of my favorite places to visit in Iceland! And this is one of my favorite photos I took while there as well!

I'm not sure what's with me today, but I'm into making random photos on a whim. Only new figures here are Fire and Ice, which I made just for this.

A freezing day in Norfolk, Virginia with 12 inches of snow and chilly temperatures. Following the blizzard, the sun began to shine.

Nikon d610

Nikon 70-200 f/4

B&W circular Polarizing filter

Halema'uma'u spews white hot smoke and steam into the cold midnight sky under the Milky Way or Hōkūnohoaupuni. It was fascinating to camp near the rim and listed to bubbling lava and steam explosions all night.

Some say the world will end in fire,

Some say in ice.

From what I’ve tasted of desire

I hold with those who favor fire.

But if it had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate

To say that for destruction ice

Is also great

And would suffice.

Robert Frost, Fire and Ice, 1920

The ROSES in our garden were suddenly at their peak, the buds exploded in the hot summer garden.

So opulent, swaying gently in the breeze and painted in the dappled sunlight.

My garden, a paradise for humans, a haven for bees.

The peachy Just Joey Rose next to the white climbing spray-Roses, flanked by the Fire and Ice vibrant flower-heads and topped by the fragrant yellow beauties.

The white ones sometimes come out with a 'blush'... but that disappears, fades as they open and 'mature'.

Here together in the studio for your joy. Thank you, M, (*_*)

The morning of the eclipse on the 20th March, and barely a cloud in the sky greeted us at sunrise, as we headed down to beach near the glacial lagoon.

Icy chunks break off the Breidamerkurjokull glacial outlet nearby and float around as huge icebergs in the lagoon until the tide pulls them down a small channel to the Atlantic here, where they wash up on the black sandy shores in their thousands to melt away.

As the sun rose brightly that morning casting the glaciers behind us in bright pink, it was burning through the icebergs on the beach, setting them on fire all around us :-)

There is ultimately just you, your camera and the moment you are in; use them all as well as you can. In this case, I carved out 30 seconds to make this image with my Innova pinhole. Considering I'll never get that time back, I think I used it well. Sunsets atop the cliffs of Cape Kiwanda are something I will never grow tired of seeing, whether a camera is involved or not.

As an aside, I have never had flare in a pinhole quite like this one. It is almost reminiscent of flare through optics. Interesting.

Another installment of the eastend pier cascaded in ice from our last snow storm. This time I wanted the scene photographed in a longer time exposure, so I decided how about 52 secs. One of the reasons that I love to shoot long exposures especially with seascapes, is to see the smoothness and motion of water stopped in the frame like glass. Although I do still like the non time exposure version of the scene, the chunks of floating ice appears more clearly and realistically

Been pretty busy with school lately, haven't been around flickr as much but I'll try to catch as much as possible.

Luckily its now reading week :)

Have a good weekend :)

For a country the same square mileage of Kentucky, there is an awful lot of cool landscapes packed into it. And to think we only saw a portion of it.

This is a shot from the beach along the Atlantic Ocean just south of Jökulsárlón. The icebergs wash out into the Atlantic, and then the waves push the chunks of ice back up onto the beach. That makes for one cool (literally and figuratively) landscape. This very large chunk of ice caught my eye early on, and I made a point of coming back to it in time to catch the sun rising above the low lying clouds.

More on the beach and Jökulsárlón in subsequent posts.

This image was created as part of a weekly challenge with the theme of Hot/Cold by the Macro Mondays group on FLICKR. Essentially, the challenge was to take a macro of something either hot, cold or both hot and cold. As I did not want to do another macro of a hot fudge sundae (healthier pix? lol), I decided to try the hot and cold.

UPDATE: 2016-06-21: This image hit EXPLORE at #134. Thanks to all of you who stopped by to view, fave, or comment!

It's been way below freezing day and night, with lots of snow. This morning, I shot the sunrise from the perspective of some very impressive icicles.

Hey everyone! I hope everyone I having a fantastic weekend so far (I know I am!) Anyway, I finally took the time to grab hold of my camera, and this is what came from it. Honestly, i'm proud of this. I always used to tell myself that "It's too cold outside, it gets dark too quick, there's nothing to take pictures of.." And really, some of those are true, but most of them aren't. You just have to let your imagination run willd, and have a camera in hand!

Today i'm not doing much. Weekends are usually time for me to be lazy, but if I find something to do.. I guess I'll switch it up ;)

Please please tell me what you think! I love honest people!

Have a good Saturday everyone,

Chantel Baggley

This is from a shoot I did with Haylee last April! I was up late last night going through files and itching to edit something when I found this set, and I couldn't help myself from editing some.

I'm going to be posting a before and after of this on Facebook in the next few days or so!

This was also edited using this week's curve preset which can be downloaded here! It's the last week of October and the last curve preset I'll be giving away - if you've missed the other three you can find them over on le blog.

There's some *very* exciting stuff coming up soon and I can't wait to show you!

I hope you guys are doing well! Lots of love to you all <3333

I know grief...

Old enemies we are...

I lost my grand-parents...

I lost my parents...

I lost my only sister...

I lost a son...

I lost my best friend...

yes... I lost many... too many...

But HOPE?

NEVER...

Beauty helps me through a lot, so here is my gift to you.

Two bi-toned Roses, from my Summer garden, called Fire and Ice.

I love the subtle tones, all the varied tones, that give the flower/petals/stems their texture, depth and form, their delectable shapes accentuated, extracted and emphasised with the colour. Don't you agree?

THANX for ALL your comments and visits, so appreciated, M, (*_*)

Last edition to the Fire and Ice from early winter taken after the ice storm. We're finally seeing some seasonal temperatures hopefully blooms of life is arriving shortly.

I might get slapped of this, but I will miss winter! haha I find the colours of the sky especially during sunrise and sunsets mixed with the ice so fascinating. I know, winter's cold, winter means lots of snow to shovel (vary by region) but I enjoy it sometimes. I'll just wear 2 extra sweaters underneath if the cold gets a little extreme :P

Have a good weekend ahead:)

"There is nothing more difficult for a truly creative painter than to paint a rose, because before he can do so he has first to forget all the roses that were ever painted."

quote by Henri Matisse

I think it goes for photographers too?

Yet some discard this and will just copy?

From my garden, a rose called appropriately: Fire & Ice.

These duo-toned roses are plump and opulent but are non-fragrant.

Have a wonderful day, filled with love and thank you for your visit, M, (*_*)
