for your Heartburn OK not funny. I made a ice mold heart - added red food colouring - once frozen put in small container and again filled with water to make a stand of sorts. Some reason I got this thick round part within ice?? I used lighter fluid to pour over heart to set icy heart on fire. This is my version of "Heart on Fire" for Smile on Saturday. Have a super wknd and Happy Valetnine to all.

The surreal beauty of Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and Bay will never let you lose once you've spent an evening, night and sunrise by its freezing shores :)
Here's another one from my archives I am currently working at, this time from our second journey to Iceland in December 2013. This is a panoramic shot of the mountains surrounding the stunning Hvalfjordur fjord in Southwest iceland.
Today's another day with scorching hot temperatures in Mid-September!! So let me offer some welcome refreshment to all of us who are suffering from the heat :)
Jokulsarlon glacier bay with its glacial ice floes glowing in the light of the rising sun.
I walked through my neighborhood in Arlington yesterday, quite interesting after the snow storm! The combination of foliage colors and snow always gets me excited!
Happy Halloween!
A glorious sunrise taken on a cold winters morning during the last few minutes of the Blue Hour. The snow on the ground was tinged with blue and made a great contrast against the fiery orange sky.
Hot and Cold, Fire and Ice.
a sunny ice scenario by the shore of a Lofoten fjord. The low sunlight reflecting and highlighting perfectly those beautiful ice structures.
Driving into the highly active volcanic area of Myvatn during a relapse into winter made our arrival all the more dramatic. I had to think of a Song of Ice and Fire immediately :)
sunset over Iceland's Snaefellsnes peninsula showing the strong contrasts that make this island so wonderful.
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Getting the lowdown (and splashed upon a few times) in the name of art!
This will be my last posted wintery image and posting for a couple of weeks. Looking forward to catching up after a little getaway!
dream sequences of fire and ice mixed up by means of magic ink dripping and inverting hues for today's Sunday Slider. Happy Sliders Sunday!

On this early morning, I loved the calmness, the light and the fog in front of the glacier at this amazing place.
How's it going guys? Back from my hiatus again haha. I've been busy with some things.
Here is a scene of our last bit of snowfall at Heart Lake which was then still frozen over. It has been 10c/50f for the past few days so this might be all gone now. I'll go back in the next few days to watch the lake breathe again :)

Hello All!
Last week, I took a drive out of the city and tooled around on a few country roads. The hedgerow of trees caught my attention so out came the camera. The ground was still frozen and topped with ice. I couldn't help but choose this effect from Topaz Studio to create fiery trees to contrast with the ice (and maybe even melt it lol).
Happy Sliders Sunday! HSS!
Migratory Note: I've spotted a Red-tailed Hawk, Merlin Falcon, and Dark-eyed Juncos.
Thanks a bunch for viewing and for your comments. I do love hearing from you! Have a wonderful day!

From my garden.
I never promised you a Rose garden, lol.
How it came about... I developed many a garden in my life, always multi coloured but also always without Roses, because I thought that they were delicate to grow and maintain.
Now Paul loves Roses, so, I stared tentatively introducing them into our oasis.
I was so wrong, they are going so well and bring so much joy.
BTW, if they suffer from greenfly: plant a garlic bulb near the root of your Rose.
It will often also tell you when you can expect rain, sniff in the air! LOL
The little white Rose, Fire and Ice, and of course Just Joey.
Wishing you a colourful day and thank you for commenting, always appreciated, M, (*_*)

I took a stroll in the beautiful spring sunshine today, and I walked past this striking creamy white and magenta "Cherry Parfait" rose in the garden of a stylish 1930s Art Deco clinker brick villa. It looked so delicious in the full sun that I couldn't resist photographing it.
"Cherry Parfait" was bred by Alain Meilland for Meilland International Roses in France in 2000. It was introduced to America by Conrad Pyle of Star Roses in 2003 under the same name and was introduced to Australia by Treloar Roses in 2008 as "Fire and Ice". It is sold in Europe as "Jubile du Prince de Monaco". It has very pale yellow to white blooms with bleeding vermilion to magenta edges. If it all, "Cherry Parfait" has a light, sweet fragrance. It has upped-to-flat blooms consisting of thirty five to forty petals.
Spring has finally come to Melbourne, and everywhere, gardens are bursting forth with beautiful coloured blooms in a profusion of shades after a wetter than usual winter.

Fire and Ice, Cherry Parfait... the names of a Rose.
There is this plant in my garden, a Rose, and it was the beautiful month of May... first the leaves and what a joy to see more and more buds appearing.
Then, one day of very strong winds, a branch hung down, bud and all, not completely severed, still some connection with the mother-plant.
Enough to slowly keep it going.
I watched it day after day, holding my breath each time.
Other buds burst open in the sun, but not this bud.
Two weeks went by and the sepals were forever holding and protecting the Rose, until it was ready?
It took over three weeks in all before some colour showed, I was beginning to doubt it would ever make it.
What joy when it deployed its splendour.
It turned up, reaching for the light,
Full glory, yet I could tell that, although held close by the outer layer and hidden under leaves, it had been under attack, from weather and insects, it was imperfect, no matter!
Here is this fighting beauty for all to enjoy!
Have a wonderful day and thank you for your visit, M, (*_*)

Really nice
However, the Blazing Flame
Has just one destructive Aim:
Melting the beautiful Crystals
With the power compared to
A Mistral ….
The Contrast could hardly be starker .. but
Without fire, the World is much darker

THE DUTY of the ARTIST... Rose.
"To send light into the darkness of men's hearts - such is the duty of the artist."

One of the last, 'wind-beaten' Fire and Ice Roses from my garden.
Velvety smooth, passionately red, damaged beauty.
The tender petals torn by the wind.

This object is from the 1970s. From my parents. My dad borrowed it to us ... to build our house. This object was clean and bright yellow – just well maintained. Until we got it in our hands. Now, the spirit level has plenty of scratches, rust, concrete and color smudges. But it still works perfectly without restrictions ;-)

Bis wir es in die Hände bekamen. Nun hat die Wasserwaage reichlich viele Kratzer, Rost, Beton- und Farbklekse. Aber sie funktioniert immer noch uneingeschränkt perfekt ;-)
