Little Downy Woodpecker finding something to eat under the bark.

Many people blame woodpeckers for killing trees. The truth is that the tree is already dying. The woodpecker is eating because there are bugs under the bark.

Perhaps not the safest way across, but unlike the folks in the cars the people on foot were able to not let the trains extended stop put a stop in their tracks.

FINDING DORY - BAILEY (voice of Ty Burrell) is the Marine Life Institute’s resident beluga whale who is convinced his biological sonar skills are on the fritz. The good news—or bad news, depending on who you ask—is that doctors at the MLI can’t seem to find anything wrong with him. Bailey’s flair for the dramatic never ceases to push his neighbor’s buttons: whale shark Destiny can’t seem to get through to him, no matter how hard she tries. Maybe he’ll listen to new friend Dory, who seems to be full of crazy ideas. ©2016 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

from a new series, finding horizons | I am posting all 22 images in chronological order and several may be reposts as this is a work in progress.

We (my wife, her friend, and I) went to the 2016 Salt Lake City Comic Con. This was the first time for all of us. We didn't get there until about 4 p.m. so we missed Mark Hamil and some other panelist so we focused on people watching. For a Thursday there was very good turnout. We saw a lot of amazing costumes and also checked out Artist Alley and some of the other areas.

I'm not familiar with all the comic characters, so if you recognize the character, feel free to let me know.

I took these photos at the 2016 Salt Lake City Comic Con in September 2016.

Disneyland 2007 (Finding Nemo ride was scheduled to open June 11, 2007. We missed it by six days!)

A selection of elderly vehicles parked up in Flagfinders' depot in Kelvedon on 21 August 2024. This depot is something of a fortress, with almost no publicly-accessible vantage points - none bar those on that station, that is, from the footbridge of which this photograph was taken. After some jockeying for position in the station car park and the main road, identities were confirmed for six of the eight vehicles stabled here. From left to right are:

LK03 NHG, a 2003 Volvo B7TL new to First London and acquired by Flagfinders in summer 2016.

Livery: Flagfinders Coaches white and blue

Chassis: Volvo B7TL

Bodywork: Plaxton President (H42/23D as built)

LK03 NHF, a second 2003 Volvo B7TL also new to First London and also acquired by Flagfinders in, presumably, summer 2016.

Livery: Flagfinders Coaches white and blue

Chassis: Volvo B7TL

Bodywork: Plaxton President (H42/23D as built)

Next is an unidentified Scania Omnidekka. There are several vehicles this could be, and unfortunately there were no obvious identifying marks.

DC56 PAN, a 2006 Dennis Dart new to Countryliner as RX56 BWE and later with Panther Travel, who allocated the custom registration. The vehicle was acquired by Flagfinders in 2021.

Livery: Flagfinders Coaches white and blue

Chassis: Dennis Dart

Bodywork: Plaxton President II (B29F)

YN04 PZY, a 2004 Dennis Dart new to Regal Busways of Shoeburyness and acquired by Flagfinders in early-2018.

Livery: Flagfinders Coaches white and blue

Chassis: Dennis Dart

Bodywork: Plaxton President II (B29F)

Parked perpendicular to this row are three more buses; one is a Mercedes-Benz Vario with exceedingly rare Eurocoach LX bodywork but, sadly, as there are two such examples in the Flagfinders fleet, this example has gone unidentified for now. The other two are:

LF52 USV, a 2002 Volvo B7TL with Wright Eclipse Gemini Mk1 bodywork. This vehicle was new to Arriva London but then passed to Regal Busways, being acquired by Flagfinders in presumably the same deal as the one in which they acquired the Dart.

Livery: Flagfinders Coaches white and blue

Chassis: Volvo B7TL

Bodywork: Wright Eclipse Gemini I (H41/22D as built)

LK03 NHV, a third 2003 Volvo B7TL from the same batch as the first two - albeit a little further along - and acquired by Flagfinders via the Ensignbus dealer in July 2016.

Livery: Flagfinders Coaches white and blue

Chassis: Volvo B7TL

Bodywork: Plaxton President (H42/23D as built)

In the background of the shot is the Hedingham depot which occupies the next plot of land. At least five Scania Omnidekkas were present, of which three were identifiable through the shrubbery.

Registration: YN55 PZP (2005)

Livery: Hedingham red and maroon (811)

Chassis: Scania N94UD

Bodywork: East Lancs Omnidekka (H45/26D as built)

Registration: YN06 JYC (2006)

Livery: Hedingham red and maroon (818)

Chassis: Scania N94UD

Bodywork: East Lancs Omnidekka (H45/26D as built)

Registration: YN06 JYE (2006)

Livery: Hedingham red and maroon (820)

Chassis: Scania N94UD

Bodywork: East Lancs Omnidekka (H45/26D as built)
