I was able to track down some maple leaves that hadn’t quite faded yet in the Wasatch Mountains. As I was working on a composition with the mountains, the sun was getting higher and the sun more harsh. I decided to focus on smaller details and found just the right light finding it’s way through the trees and illuminating these leaves.

We found hope only in the darkness and we appreciate its presence when hope merely is scarcity.

My husband and I broke down years ago and purchased an artificial tree. Though it doesn't come with the charm of tradition of picking one out every year we have the convenience and guarantee that it's one we will like.

I loved the way Petersen Family Farm described the experience of picking out a tree. I saw this on their Facebook page and Instagram too www.instagram.com/p/B5ORww0BO0U/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

"Someone has already looked at your tree and decided it's too tall, too short, too full, not full enough. That's fine. It just wasn't waiting for them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It was waiting for you.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

You were meant to see each other. You were meant to celebrate the holiday together, in a warm space dotted with tiny lights. When you decorate your tree, you're hanging up your family's love and memories. It doesn't feel right to do that with a stranger you've only just met. Instead, decorate with a tree that knows things you can only begin to put into words.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It has the wilderness in its slow-stirring blood. It has the sun in each needle, the winter deep in its bark. You'll know it when you see it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Come find it today."⠀

I wanted this to look like the tree was shining just for them. ⠀⠀

"O amor é grande e cabe nesta janela sobre o mar. O mar é grande e cabe na cama e no colchão de amar. O amor é grande e cabe no breve espaço de beijar."

So this is the first image in a short series that I will be creating over the next few months. "Finding Yellow" a narrative all about searching for positivity within darker situations and how that can be translated through conceptual portraiture.

As an added bonus I've decided to invite some of my extremely talented photo friends to collaborate along the way, and allow them to bring their own take to this theme.

The first being one of my new favourites Albin Thelander, check out his incredible version of Finding Yellow HERE

I'm hugely excited and would appreciate honest and constructive feedback! If you would like to be involved in collaborating, please please do send me a message! I'd love to see your concepts! :)

"Spring flowers are long since gone. Summer's bloom hangs limp on every terrace. The gardener's feet drag a bit on the dusty path and the hinge in his back is full of creaks."

Yes it's typical being in Oregon to visit Cannon Beach for the fruitless search of that special photo even though that's been done a million times over. And having countless tourists walk right past your shot or chuckle at your small odd camera. But finding a photo that your happy with is all worth it... :D (Cannon Beach, Oregon at The Needles near sunset) - © 2016 Brad Connolly #oregon #cannonbeach #coast

At the park yesterday I was standing looking at parrots in the trees and looked down and saw that Benni was using me for shade!

HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYONE!!!!

A Grove of some old growth Aspens in Alberta Canada, The scene just really grabbed my attention, the contrast between light and dark and all the different trunks made for a relaxing scene for me.

This is the mating process of the skimmers. The male (larger), on the left, is presenting a fish to the female. If the female accepts the fish the mating process begins. Be prepared for the “x rated” photos tomorrow !!!

Tot de volgende droomreis… ☺

Despite a difficult week, life lunges onward and I had a new series photoshoot -- in a location we have used previously. Ryan and I went to 2 different thrift shops, bought as many varied suitcases as we could (making sure to have some old, some somewhat old) and set ourselves up in the middle of the street (very reminiscent of "Wayne's World" at time --- "Car! Car!")

The title of the series is "Losing my religion, finding my faith". The concept hinges around baggage -- our baggage. Specifically our "religion" baggage -- those outside influences that shape our thinking of God, Jesus, Church, Christians, etc. Unnecessary baggage or hurt, anger, fear, manipulation, abuse. Baggage that weighs us down and prevents us from having true faith. We need to dump the baggage, leave the suitcases behind and run toward faith.

This is the eagle that was leaving one tree to find another ... see post below taken that describes the action this eagle took this morning along the Susquehanna River. This was great being in position and having the eagle fly by so closely with the fish, and with some nice sunlight. Has not been much sunlight here in Maryland for the past two weeks.

With the masts encroaching on the view here, this was one of my attempts to find a more unusual angle of Bishton flyover. Here 66514 heads a short train load up and over the mainline. Shame no containers on this occasion. 09:36 East Usk Yard to Bristol Freightliner Terminal.
