20107 is on her final approach to Newport as she crosses tracks at Gaer Junction to line up for her Platform 1 arrival before entering Hillhead Tunnel.
The climb to the tunnel mouth is excentuated by the full zoom on my cameras lens.
She was working the 1Z31 1408 Carmarthen to Bristol East Depot deputising for Black 5 Sherwood Forrester.
At the edge of the wetland as the light was fading I was lucky enough to get some shots of this hummingbird.

Airshow London marked the final official flight for this C-130H Hercules, operated by the USCG Air Station in Clearwater, Florida. After decades of service, the aircraft is now retired and will be flown to a boneyard for dismantling.
Final approach.
At 6.20 pm the sky is blanketed by heavy smoke from the nearby out of control bush fires.
For most the afternoon the smoke blocked the suns rays and transformed was otherwise was a bright sunny day almost night.
Despite the density of the smoke this aircraft flew over the Hastings River and still managed to land at the Port Macquarie airport.

A wonder around Otley Chevin today, in the lovely misty conditions. Very little colour left now, this one beech tree perhaps one of the last to drop it's autumn glory.
they stand there, waiting, rolling into nothing. no one sees them until they are needed. then they carry load after load, silent, patient. a brief moment of purpose, then stillness again.
My last shot this morning probably turned out to be my favourite, was difficult getting near these rocks due to the incoming tide but managed a shot in the end
This sunrise beauty was captured on a Redang Island holiday resort (at Teluk Dalam): a beautiful island with crystal clear waters and beautiful sandy beaches. The island lies off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, as the last photo posted explains.
The sunrise is at the "final essence" stage, which describes the final phase of a sunrise, in all its glory, before starting to wane into the sun. Incidentally, the closer a place is to the equator the more colourful the sky is regarding sunrises/sunsets; also like a lot of wildlife (like the hornbill bird) and plants (like red frangipani).

The flight crew from the last official flight of the HH-1N in Marine Corps service. From left to right, SAR corpsman HM3 Drinnon, crew chief Sgt Cardinale, pilot Capt 'Hotmess' Campbell, and unit commander Maj 'A-Bomb' Trout. The crew made several flights over their area of operations with crew chiefs and maintainers aboard for one last flight before performing one final short-haul lift of a simulated patient on a taxiway before a small crowd of Yuma SAR veterans and family.
To reach the top of Straitsmouth island Lighthouse, you ascend a sprial, cast iron stairway of about two dozen steps, then climb a ladder to the upper deck. If you are flexible enough, you can then crawl through a square opening out to the balcony for an unobstructed view.
Under the McGee Creek Trestle near Shawnigan Lake, Vancouver Island, BC., Canada, a fallen maple leaf drifts down stream while rivelets, ripples, smooth circular hilights and rocks encircle it.
Final sunset shots with the tree in place; it was cut down the next day after getting its roots contaminated with salt water during Cyclone Gabrielle
This is the washroom of block 11 where many condemned had to clean themselves and their clothes before they were led to the "Wall of Death", located in the yard at the side of this block, to be executed. SS men shot several thousand people there—mostly Polish political prisoners and, above all, members of clandestine organizations.
Executions were also carried out here on Poles brought in from outside with death sentences, including hostages detained in reprisal for Polish resistance movement operations. Cases are known in which prisoners from other groups—Jews and Soviet POWs—were shot. The wall was dismantled in 1944, while the camp was still in existence. This did not mean the end of executions, however. Prisoners were also subjected to other form of punishment in the yard, including flogging and "the post".

I captured this osprey landing on a dead snag at Antelope Lake in Plumas County, California, USA. When I first saw it, it was in its nest, which I’d just seen for the first time. The sun was probably 10 minutes from dropping over the ridge in the west (camera right) so the bird was flying directly in to some gorgeous golden hour light. I can (and often do) lose track of time watching these amazing raptors as they show off their skills as the best fishers on the water. Someday I’ll capture the exact moment of the catch; I’ve just missed it a few times; but just about any photo of these wonderful creatures is worth shooting!

In the final hours of being in Wexdec, she though of where she'd come from and wondered where she'd go, but knowing that they would all go together and she wouldn't be kidnapped onto the ship this time, it was a relief. She stood on the relic of an implement of battle and looked to the horizon to see if the warriors were approaching and they'd secured the land.

Drenching rains flooded coastal catchments in NSW this week, dramatically raising water levels in coastal lakes. Fish gathered near suspected break points, hoping to escape to the sea. Fish eating birds like these shags gathered in anticipation of a feast. A few humans also braved the weather to grab a few fish. This lake breached just a few hours later. Shot taken from the comfort of my dry Hilux, using a Super-Takumar 150mm f4 lens. Baragoot Lake, NSW Far South Coast, Australia.
Hope your week started on a good note? Last week while trying to capture some images downtown after the sunset a small summer storm cell was rushing trough the city. My wife saw that because I wasn’t paying attention to much after I got my shot at the previous location. After she caught it we rushed to this overlook to try and capture it. She is the one tha managed to capture the short video as well. You might know this but sometimes during hot summer nights we get “heat lightning” that can look awesome but can be challenging to capture! This is a blend of half an hour worth of flashes. What do you think?
