Beautiful. Dangerous. Loud.

Update: - well, there it is. It was just pointed out that this is an F-18 and NOT and F-15 as I previously titled it. Months and finally someone pointed that out. Thanks @walker9!

He was my great-uncle. From the pictures i've seen of him, I think I would have liked him a lot. It's bizarre to think that he died two months before his 25th birthday, a decorated fighter pilot who had been smuggled out of France by the Underground.

By my 25th birthday, all I had accomplished was an expertise in Goldeneye.

Here's to you, Great-Uncle Carl.

I walk by this bench, that is sitting just within the entrance to the Oak Grove Cemetary along the 8th Street side, and always have to wonder. The Pacific war was coming to a close and would have been over within six months of his loss. I can almost picture this young fellow sitting proudly behind the controls of his airplane, eager to take off from the crowded deck of a carrier; his last mission.
