Maintenance members assigned to the 157th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron perform an afterburner run on an F-16 Fighting Falcon at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, Sept. 18, 2018. The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft. It is highly maneuverable and has proven itself in air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attack. Although the 389th P-47s were tasked to perform ground attack missions, the flexibility of the “Jug” as a fighter-bomber was apparent throughout the campaign in Europe. XX 389th pilots scored aerial victories against the Luftwaffe. The highest scoring T-Bolt was Lt Vernon Walters, with 3 victories. He is depicted here recounting one of his kills with his ground crew.

An RCAF CF-18 Hornet from 425 Squadron, Bagotville Quebec, in for a gun run at the 2023 Barrie Airshow. There was no technical “Demo Team” that year so, the RCAF provided us with a “Tactical Demo” showcasing the CF-18’s multirole mission capabilities all the way from overwatch to weapon deployment.

Back to April 2012 at Hyakuri Air Force Base in Japan, during a time of increased tension with North Korea due to their missile testing. Consequently, when the usual military runway was already in use, some recoveries were made on the other runway usually reserved for traffic on the civil airport side of the airfield. So, 'right place, right time' as JASDF F-4EJ Phantom 37-8320 from the based 302 Hikotai recovers from a sortie and deploys its brake chute.
