A few minutes after photographing 6K05 at Crosby Garrett, a couple of military fighter jets turned up, (F-15E Strike Eagles - cheers Ade), wheeling across the landscape at pretty low level, Tuesday 3.9.13
Santa Barbara Airport has seen a wider variety of aircraft lately, including this jet parked amid the small planes just before sunset. It still sports aerial refueling probe at one end and carrier landing tailhook at the other. Only one seat apparently, so I guess it's not here selling thrill rides. Anyone know the story on this?

F/A-18 Hornet flying very low over Saline Valley, with the Inyo Mountains in the background (Death Valley National Park).
US Airforce uses this remote and rugged desert and mountain area as a training ground, presumably because they are similar to the terrain in Afganistan and Iraq.
Almost every day, F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets fly very low and very fast (close to the speed of sound) over Saline Valley.
