The USAF Air Demonstration Squadron ("Thunderbirds") is the air demonstration squadron of the United States Air Force (USAF) The Thunderbirds perform aerial demonstrations in the F-16C Fighting Falcon. The Thunderbirds Squadron tours the United States and much of the world, performing aerobatic formation and solo flying in specially marked aircraft. The squadron's name is taken from the legendary creature that appears in the mythologies of several indigenous North American cultures ....
Seen here just after landing at RAF Lakenheath is the Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet which is the two seat version. Normaly seen on the deck of the USS Harry S. Trueman, With tail code "204", from VFA-211.

Yes, the front landing gear folds. And locks. And the door fits overtop. and there's room behind the cockpit for it to fold. Victory!!!
I notice there's no door in these pics. I need some more recent ones. Actually, I should have gotten these posted three or four months ago. :-)
The door is eight studs wide and works about like the door on the F-16. It was inspired by the door on Ralph's A-4 (on Brickshelf), so it shares some basic ideas.

F86 Sabre coming in for Runway 25 at RFD. More than 9800 of the jets were built in the 1950s and onward for use in the Korean War. Only about 20 or so of them are still airworthy in the United States. Neat piece of history.
