The F-84E Thunderjet, a Cold War-era fighter-bomber, featured a straight-wing design, a top speed of 620 mph, and a range of 1,230 miles. Powered by a single Allison J35-A-17 engine, it housed six .50-caliber machine guns and could carry up to 2,000 lbs of bombs or rockets. It played a crucial role in early jet aviation.

Seen at Fort Worth Air show

Back in May the Blue Angels rolled into Harrisburg for the second year in a row. I missed them the first time in 2025 and figured I'd miss them again in 2026 due to a weekend softball tournament.

However, heavy rain Friday and Saturday of Memorial Day weekend caused the tournament to be canceled.

Despite an extremely low cloud deck, the Angels flew Sunday. I was able to get down to Middletown and see an incredible show from the United States Navy's finest F/A-18 Super Hornet pilots.

The light was particularly low and bright the day I took this. I had the camera settings all on manual apart from the focusing !

Abbotsford Airshow 2009. Hornets rule the sky. You can reach up and touch them. They salute you. Sheer power. Like arrows they pass by, all silence and grace. A shock wave of thunder then fills the air.
