With the lockdown in force, photographing professional models is sadly not possible. So, I have tried my hand at photographing a Corgi model of the English Electric (later BAE) Lightning. This was the first British fighter capable of flying supersonically in level flight. It was even capable of intercepting the high flying Lockheed U2.

Last of the Legacies - VFA-204 retired its F/A-18C/Ds in 2022, becoming VFC-204 as it adopted the F-5N, ending the Navy’s use of the Legacy Hornet in fleet service and bringing an end to the strategic reserve mission component. The Legacy Hornet was legendary for its time as the Navy’s first electric jet with fly by wire systems and digital glass cockpit which by today’s standards looks antiquated. But in the hands of an experienced adversary pilot, it was still lethal to its larger fleet cousins, the Super Hornet.
