With the lockdown in force, photographing professional models is sadly not possible. So, I have tried my hand at photographing a Corgi model of the English Electric (later BAE) Lightning. This was the first British fighter capable of flying supersonically in level flight. It was even capable of intercepting the high flying Lockheed U2.

The Navy made aviation history Nov. 3 as an F-35C Lightning II carrier variant Joint Strike Fighter conducted its first arrested landing aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) off the coast of San Diego. The arrested landing is part of initial at-sea Developmental Testing I (DT-I) for the F-35C, which commenced Nov. 3 and is expected to last two weeks. Learn more: bit.ly/1qq8ifx
The XF-85 Goblin, a.k.a. "Parasite Fighter," was like the Chuck Norris of aircraft—compact yet fierce. Built to launch from a B-36 bomber, it packed a punch with its six .50-caliber machine guns. Imagine a pocket-sized avenger, defending the skies with a style that was small but mighty.
Despite its ambitious design, this airborne munchkin faced challenges, earning it the title of a historic failure. Turns out, even the mightiest hobbits can stumble in the realm of aviation.

.... Each year, the RCAF / Royal Canadian Air Force designates one CF-18 Hornet as the primary demonstration aircraft, and paints it up in a special scheme. The 2018 scheme celebrates 60 years of the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD ....
I have to say that I am pretty chuffed with myself for capturing this photo. I was tracking this CF-18 Hornet as it was passing at a high rate of speed. I managed to capture some excellent images and then it passed behind a tree. I was prepared to delete the tree shots when I discovered that I'd actually nailed focus and framing right through the foliage. Not bad! I didn't even need to crop the resulting image.

using a teleconverter give you reach, my 70-200mm become a 400 plus if we count the crop sensor, but the downside is a loss of pixel and overwhelming softens.

F/A-18 Hornet flying past Opera House.
I reached there just in time.
There were actually 3 jets, they were flying in formation when they entered the harbour. I couldnt frame either Opera House or Harbour Bridge when they were in formation. but then they started doing acrobatics at low altitude individually. Though there is one in this shot, this one is my favorite!
Day 93 of 365
Not a photoshop job! This is a maneuver where the two planes fly a pass next to each other. As they approach show center, the near one inverts and they continue (as my friend Marc says, at the speed of heat). When I saw them start this, I panned as well as I could and snapped at full framerate. This is the result. I wanted to catch them as a direct mirror image, but (as you can tell) the near plane was flying slightly behind. Still, I'm very excited about the way it came out!
