The Me 262A, a pioneering German jet-powered fighter aircraft of World War II, revolutionized aerial warfare with its unmatched speed and firepower. Designed by Willy Messerschmitt, it boasted twin engines and swept wings, achieving speeds exceeding 500 mph. Despite its late introduction, it left an indelible mark on aviation history.
The Me 262A featured two Junkers Jumo 004 turbojet engines, providing a top speed of over 500 mph (800 km/h) and a range of approximately 652 miles (1,050 km). Armed with four 30mm MK 108 cannons, it could also carry air-to-air rockets or bombs. Its advanced design influenced post-war jet aircraft development.
