Things that I found online to use for inspiration and thought I would share. Again, these are not mine! If I knew how to backtrack the creators not listed to give them credit I would. I hope that you enjoy!
This ship is now complete.
One of the fighters (for the fighter bays in my WIP SHIP), after some tweaking.
This little fighter is the standard fighter for the American space fleet. They are meant for space combat only because the process of reentry would rip the ship apart. They are launched from a large capital ship or carrier. It uses almost the same rocket motors as the larger exploration shuttles. This gives it extraordinary speed. It gets it's electric power from three adjustable solar panels. It also had two twin-barreled machine guns as it's primary weapon and it can also carry large nukes as a secondary weapon.
The model is from a 1:2 rectangle and pretty simple. I used it to test out Word 2007's drawing abilities. The result can be found on the Origami Austria Homepage:

Word is better than a pixel based drawing program but far more awkward to use than a real vector graphic program. If you want a good diagramming software you should in any case go for a vector graphic program and not fool around with programs that aren't meant to draw diagrams with.

Introducing the Iommian 7th iteration i-Fighter, codename: SPiNNER.
Features a control pod that rotates on the z-axis to keep the pilot stable while the fighter rolls or spins (pointless in space but it looks cool). The propulsion ring features almost 320 degrees of directional vectoring for extreme maneuverablity. Fighter operations controlled by two blue touch screens. Droid socket fits standard R2 unit (pictured here with R2-P3). Armaments include: 2 proton torpedo launchers (4 torpedoes each) and 4 laser cannons. The i-Fighter is not equipped with any kind of landing-gear, instead it relies on its repulsorlift generator to keep it hovering above the landing surface.
Built for the 2011 FBTB Alphabet Fighter Contest.
Long Range Heavy Blacktron 2 Fighter.
As it came together
the cockpit pod started to remind me of a fish and thus Piranha
The Scythe is a long-range, high altitude fighter designed primarily for covert reconnaissance. The aerodynamic profile and drop tanks allow it to cover incredible distances and collect high-detail map imagery. It is armed with light strike missiles that can be used in self-defense or in precision attacks against valuable targets.
Inspired by some of the Gamilan designs from the excellent anime Space Battleship Yamato 2099.
