On the way home Today, I Stopped in a "No Parking Zone" long enough to Capture these California Poppies.
The California Poppy was designated the state flower of California in 1903. Also known as the Flame Flower and Cup of Gold, the California Poppy grows wild throughout the state.
Native Americans in California valued the poppy as a food source and for the oil extracted from the plant.

'Brachacher' it said on my walking map, but I didn't see it on the signposts. A friendly farmer offered to help but I only half understood the local dialect: through long and wet grass, along the wood, ... and what was I looking for: a field?? Finally, there it was: Brachacher: a peaceful hamlet (just a handful of farms).
Leaving Pondicherry behind, my road trip meanderd through the rural countryside of Southern India. These areas are my favorite because rice fields abound and the workers in the fields are so colorful.
