"Broadgate Venus" by Fernando Botero. A five tonne polished bronze nude statue. A large outdoor TV screen makes photographing this sculpture difficult. Located in Exchange Square, London, England.

Known locally as the 'fat bird', this fabulous bronze sculpture on the Singapore waterfront is by the Colombian Fernando Botero, and represents peace, serenity, joy and optimism. A small child is unimpressed.

By the Columbian Sculptor Fernando Botero. I'm not generally one for cats, but this is a particular favourite of mine, and it doesn't make me sneeze!.

This thought-provoking piece of the biblical Adam allows you to see Botero's version of early man. Notice the apple in Adam's hand. Has he taken a bite yet? Judging by the beautiful garden around this piece, he may still be in Eden. The book of Genesis says, "You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." Which choice will Botero's Adam make?

FERNANDO BOTERO - Exhibition « Beyond forms » (2021/2022)

Vast retrospective dedicated to the Colombian painter and sculptor Fernando Botero by the BAM (Museum of Fine Arts - MONS – BELGIUM).

Renowned for his round and voluptuous figures, reflecting the artist's taste for satire and caricature, Botero's work (1932-) is the result of demanding and determined research, in which the artist has been engaged for more than 70 years.

The artist is known for the diversity of the sources of his work, inspired as much by Colombian folk imagery or Mexican muralists as by the art of the Renaissance and the emblematic works of Diego Velázquez, Pablo Picasso or Francisco de Goya.
