We took a day trip to Toledo. It was a beautiful city full of interesting churches, castles, cathedrals, monasteries, great architecture and cobbled alleyways. But very hot at 40 degrees. We took a sangria break and Chris' hat took various beatings from the barman. Chris didn't seem to mind as he has a bit of a history of losing hats one way or another. The barman felt guilty though and kept trying to appease. This was paella that we were sharing with the birds as the barman didn't believe that it was too hot to be hungry, but this baby bird was.

For an additional fee various 'experiences' can be purchased.

These allow you to access areas and perform tasks that a normal visitor wouldn't be able to do.

Its nice to see him and her are in matching black and white tops to match the animals.

Not my Pictures and will remove if asked; but were forwarded to me by my father. Amazing pictures!

January of this year 2012, the weather stayed so cold in St. Louis, Missouri and Alton, Illinois that the bald eagles were cruising over houses in hopes of a quick meal. They could not access fish that were at the bottom of the river and had gathered together.

Some kind souls decided to feed the eagles so they would survive the cold spell. They gathered fish and started feeding the group of eagles huddled on the shore.

The photos below show what happened. A retired teacher took these photos in front of his home. Incredible!

Fireman Chris shovels coal into the firebox of the locomotive as we run up "the hill" in the Scranton Yard. 2317 has a stoker which feeds coal into the center of the firebox which makes Chris' life easier as he only has to shovel coal into the corners.

On totting up I think the whole set up cost us about £80 including the feeders. Then it costs us about £30-£40 a month in food for the birds too. Expensive business this bird feeding lark! However we have gone a bit crazy LOL. I'm sure you could do it much cheaper.

Oh and not to forget the pond which was over the the left of the image (cropped out), that cost us £40 for the liner and a couple of quid for plasters for Chris hands after digging it out :D. The pond is a great addition for the birds to drink and bath in. Plus it gives good habitat for frogs, newts, fish and whatever else you can think of as pond life.

Feeding fish is a popular pastime in Thailand. Our noodle shop was opposite a temple, which increases the density of fish as they cannot be fished in that vicinity

I have a lot of feed bags from the animals. They are amazingly strong and I decided to do something meaningful with them so they wouldn't just go into the landfill.

Each bag is made from extra strong poly blend plastic, sewn neatly so that it folds up great and will hold up to 40 pounds of groceries with out hesitation.

I will be selling these on my etsy shop shortly for a minimal price. All proceeds will go back in to the goats, sheep, and chickens these bags originally fed.

Feeding time! Soda speaks her mind while Magic looks on. She meowed when the shutter clicked, which on a digital camera like mine is very fortuitous!

Mother Moorhen and Hungry Chick.

Seen being fed on the canal today I think this chick is the younger of the pair. The other one was feeding itself and tucking into the black sunflower seed. Still no signs of the Canada Geese that are usually raising their goslings by now.
