4me4you features - ‘HISTORIES IN FLUX’.

Artist: Tim Kent

4me4you recently had the pleasure of visiting JD Malat Gallery to view "Histories in Flux," a new series of oil paintings by the acclaimed artist Tim Kent.

The paintings exhibited at JD Malat Gallery are reflections of what the artist describes as "playing with art history." These fragmented yet visually coherent compositions of vast interiors, sculptures, historical figures, and classical nudes blur, disconnect, and reshape before the viewer's eyes, critically engaging with the systemic power structures that Western art history has fortified, but which contemporary art must continuously challenge.

"Histories in Flux" presents twelve psychologically charged portraits, architectural depictions of estates, and cultural institutions that highlight key issues related to class, access, privacy, and consumption. Kent both resists and highlights the conformity inherent in traditional painting genres, attuned to contemporary issues. His work transforms and dissects Baroque and Georgian interior spaces, revealing an ominous past with its own dimensional terrain.

Kent's playful engagement with genre—specifically the nude, portraiture, interiors, and narrative painting—results in the distortion of old art historical systems, merging tradition with the contemporary. This imbues his work with subtle criticisms that sever traditional roles of authority. His grid-like fragmentations suggest an empirical reaction from the viewer, turning the once harmonious genre of chamber painting into a realm of architectural dissonance. As Kent states, “The perspective grid becomes a visual metaphor for the interconnectivity of how we construct our visual world and it’s influences across every level of existence.”

These obscured historic scene scapes challenge our understanding of history. Busts, portraits, monuments, museum spaces, and estates serve as vessels for thematic parallels deeply rooted in classism, elitism, and power dynamics. Through his portrayal of these traditional art historical archetypes, Kent exposes the controversial and often overlooked narratives woven into the fabric of art history's canon. While institutional spaces proudly showcase their collections as symbols of cultural education and progress, beneath this veneer lies a concealed tapestry of colonial dominance, imperial knowledge systems, class stratification, and labor obfuscation. Kent's compositions unearth these underlying complex networks, dismantling and deconstructing familiar symbols of tradition. By layering their veneer of opulence and allure with shadows and uncertainties, he transforms these once-celebrated spaces into stark objects that challenge viewers to confront the uncomfortable realities obscured by centuries of glorification.

"One of the most distinctive features of Chartres Cathedral is the stained glass, both for its quantity and quality. There are 167 windows, including rose windows, round oculi, and tall, pointed lancet windows. The architecture of the cathedral, with its innovative combination of rib vaults and flying buttresses, permitted the construction of much higher and thinner walls, particularly at the top clerestory level, allowing more and larger windows. Also, Chartres contains fewer plain or grisaille windows than later cathedrals, and more windows with densely stained glass panels, making the interior of Chartres darker but the colour of the light deeper and richer."

Source: Wikipedia

And in more detail here

"Chartres Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Our Lady of Chartres (French: Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres), is a Roman Catholic church in Chartres, France, about 80 km (50 miles) southwest of Paris, and is the seat of the Bishop of Chartres. Mostly constructed between 1194 and 1220, it stands at the site of at least five cathedrals that have occupied the site since the Diocese of Chartres was formed as an episcopal see in the 4th century. It is in the High Gothic and Romanesque styles.

"The cathedral was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979, which called it 'the high point of French Gothic art' and a 'masterpiece'.

"The cathedral is well-preserved and well-restored: the majority of the original stained glass windows survive intact, while the architecture has seen only minor changes since the early 13th century. The building's exterior is dominated by heavy flying buttresses which allowed the architects to increase the window size significantly, while the west end is dominated by two contrasting spires – a 105-metre (349 ft) plain pyramid completed around 1160 and a 113-metre (377 ft) early 16th-century Flamboyant spire on top of an older tower. Equally notable are the three great façades, each adorned with hundreds of sculpted figures illustrating key theological themes and narratives.

"Since at least the 12th century the cathedral has been an important destination for travellers. It remains so to the present, attracting large numbers of Christian pilgrims, many of whom come to venerate its famous relic, the Sancta Camisa, said to be the tunic worn by the Virgin Mary at Christ's birth, as well as large numbers of secular tourists who come to admire the cathedral's architecture and historical merit.

"The venerated Black Madonna enshrined within was Pontifically crowned by Pope Pius IX on 31 May 1855."

Indoor Tabletop Water Fountain Feature - Fountains / Features

A tabletop fountain is a great home accent and they will bring a sense of serenity to your indoor space. The water and natural elements bring a little bit of nature indoors. Our indoor tabletop fountains are made with hand thrown ceramic, copper, stainless steel and natural elements such as slate, gemstones, crystals and bamboo. The features made of semi precious stones often include a rotating object on the fountain such as a crystal sphere which rotates using water pressure, bringing movement to the table fountain which is both interesting and soothing to watch. Table fountains are ideal accents for small rooms and office desks where space is a concern. They easily fit into small spaces such as the corner of a desk, a bedroom table, mantle, around door entryways and coffee tables.

Photographic techniques capture electromagnetic wavelengths beyond human vision, revealing features invisible to the naked eye. These signals are processed into interpretable forms using methods like color mapping.

Pink lacks a specific electromagnetic wavelength, while grey poses a limitation due to its representation of only intensity—a blend of light and dark without spectral specificity. Imaging techniques reliant on spectral variation produce identical results for greyscale images unless non-visible data is present. Deviations from this uniformity may indicate errors, misinterpretations, or unknown phenomena.

Contention persists over analytical debates, including dismissible claims like Van Allen belt dangers and contested evidence of lunar mirrors. The precision of laser reflections targeting a moving 3x3-foot marker on the Moon highlights technical skill but often fails to resolve skepticism. For instance, a 0.1° shift moves a laser spot 670 km across the Moon's surface.

Forensic analysis (2022, 2023) of Apollo 11–17 photographs assessed authenticity claims. Images of humans in space, Earth, and the Moon's distant views were validated, but Moon landing visuals showed variations, suggesting diverse techniques may have replicated certain elements.

PEMi (Photoelectromagnetic Image) software enhances forensic analysis by differentiating natural and artificial light sources, revealing hidden features. Each PEMi-ID links to original sources, ensuring traceability and comparison.

4me4you Features 'Monsters, Chambers, and Trapdoors'.

Artist: Georgia Dymock

In 'Monsters, Chambers, and Trapdoors', Georgia Dymock explores the idea of identity, saturating her figures with subtle mythological and fantastical traits. In doing so, the artist invites viewers to question traditional narratives and their own perceptions of heroism and monstrosity.

4me4you recently visited Monsters, Chambers, and Trapdoors, a captivating exhibition at Gillian Jason Gallery, showcasing the latest works by Georgia Dymock. In this thought-provoking body of work, Dymock invites viewers into a world where myth, fantasy, and identity intertwine, populated by voluminous, anthropomorphic figures that challenge conventional narratives around gender, sexuality, and the human form. With her intricate compositions, Dymock delves deep into the subconscious, exploring themes of transformation, desire, and the complexities of selfhood.

At the heart of Monsters, Chambers, and Trapdoors is the idea of identity, explored through figures imbued with subtle mythological and fantastical traits. By saturating her creations with elements of the unreal, Dymock urges us to question not only the nature of heroism and monstrosity but also how we perceive ourselves and others. One recurring motif in her recent works is the pairing of figures—often physically close yet emotionally distant. Drawing inspiration from Plato’s concept of the soulmate, where humans were once unified beings with four arms, four legs, and two heads, Dymock explores the aching separation and yearning that followed their division by Zeus. These paired figures, while physically intimate, convey a palpable sense of detachment, creating a tension that highlights the alienation and objectification of the human body. The cold, metallic surfaces of these figures further emphasise their non-human qualities, evoking a chilling sense of robotic detachment.

This disconnection raises intriguing questions about whether Dymock is creating figurative works or abstract still-life. Her abstraction reduces human forms to their most elemental features, transforming them into symbolic objects that invite reflection on disintegration, dissolution, and the fragmentation of the self. Works like Bathers and Octopus Hattake this fascination with hybrid and fragmented bodies to an extreme, using oversized limbs and textured contrasts to blur the line between allure and danger, exploring the complex interplay of touch, attraction, and threat.

Dymock's exploration of "monstrosity" offers a powerful subversion of societal norms, drawing upon a wide range of sources to reinterpret classical mythological figures. Works like Two-Faced and Sucking Thumbs reimagine figures such as Medusa and the sirens, imbuing them with ambiguity, empathy, and playful tension. These reinterpretations challenge traditional depictions of the female body in myth and art, critiquing how these archetypes have been shaped by visual culture. By presenting figures that embody traits deemed excessive or grotesque, Dymock invites viewers to reconsider their perceptions of beauty, power, and femininity, breaking down rigid standards of behavior and appearance.

Throughout her work, Georgia Dymock creates a space for introspection and dialogue, encouraging us to look beyond surface appearances and engage with the deeper complexities of identity. Her practice, which seamlessly blends traditional painting techniques with digital processes, reflects her ongoing exploration of transformation and the fluidity of forms. Beginning with digital compositions, Dymock manipulates her imagery using programming software before translating these elements onto the canvas. Through an ongoing exchange between digital and analog media, her work evolves, resulting in richly layered oil paintings that synthesize technology and tradition in a dynamic and innovative way.

Currently based in London and represented by Gillian Jason Gallery, Dymock is an emerging talent with an MFA in Fine Art Painting from the Slade School of Fine Art (2023), a GradD from Chelsea College of Art (2020), and a BSc in Anthropology from UCL (2019). Her accomplishments include winning the 2023 Cass Art Prize, being selected as a finalist for the 2024 Ingram Prize, and being named one of the New Contemporaries. Dymock's work is featured in private collections worldwide and is part of the institutional collection of the Museum Inima de Paula in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

It stands 327 feet (100 m) above the sea and is the fourth tallest sea stack or off-shore monolith in the world.[1]

The other Oregon coastal Haystack Rock stands 105 feet (32 m)[2] above sea level in Coos County near Bandon.[3]Haystack Rock is a 235-foot (72-meter) sea stack in Cannon Beach, Oregon. It is sometimes claimed locally to be the third-tallest such "intertidal" (meaning it can be reached by land) structure in the world, but there are no official references to support this. A popular tourist destination, the monolithic rock is adjacent to the beach and accessible by foot at low tide. The Haystack Rock tide pools are home to many intertidal animals, including starfish, sea anemone, crabs, chitons, limpets, and sea slugs. The rock is also a nesting site for many sea birds, including terns and puffins. for more en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haystack_Rock
